Guys, settle this argument for me. Avenged sevenfold content

I have said it before and here it comes again...

Avenged Sevenfold is the hard rock/metal equivalent of the Backstreet Boys. They are a boy band. That said, they do what they do pretty well. Even if it is contrived.

But no way on God's green Earth are they the greatest. "Most developed" to your buddy = "able to play in key" to the rest of us...

okay. here's the deal. A friend of mine says that synster gates is one of the most developed and amazing guitarists in the world. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, using youtube videos or any other kind of example, can you prove that avenged sevenfold are not the best band in the world. I know he's entitled to his opinion, but this is just insane.

Ok, real simple.

ANY music, Rock, Metal, Jazz that actually INCLUDES A SOLO and is getting any recognition/airtime is FKN AWESOME. Its been a long time since anyone gave a good shit about a constructed solo on MTfknV the radio, or ANYWHERE. LOVE IT or hate it, the Bands' doing something.

He is NOT a legend. Legends take time. this statement is coming from someone who is a child, one way or another, an has a lot to learn.

Reminds me of that article that was in Guitar Player years ago from the guy that said Clapton 'wasnt a hair on Yngwie's ass', or somethin to that effect....

amen bro!! we should all enjoy the small glimmer of hope that sits on the horizon that it might one day actually be considered cool to have good musicians on video and radio!! i remember last year or so when their song bat country beat the mass of rap and pop on trl for the number one video! we should at least respect our fellow guitar nerd brethren and encourage this bands success as it could very well lead to better musicians in our pop culture and our media! they arent legends at all BUT they seem to have true love for music and guitar, and isnt that really what its all about. i hate the guitar competition thing and the egos that go with it! you dont have to love em just dont say its the worst thing ever, cuz i sure as hell can think of a shitload of things worse on my radio stations!!! in closing if these guys can get the next generation fired up about guitar then they have done something that has my respect for sure!

This is a really cool sounding band. I love bands that really mix up their riffs. What CD would you recommend?

They've only got 2 that I'm aware of, and the both freaking rock.

"The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out" and "Death of a Dead Day" which is the newest one.

I'm a big fan of the meter changes and the guitar and drum work....vocals, not so much.

Pfft. Random wanking doesn't make music better. Go watch Headbanger's Ball or whatever rock/metal shows there are on other channels. Tons of the songs have solos. ALL the songs suck.
