H&K Triamp Mk III... looks very interesting (to me)...

I also thought it was bass heavy and not that clear or tight in the high end.. I liked the "brown sound" but it was a tad too thick. Not for me but cool concept. Looks like a damn spaceship though.

Sounds very similar to the MKII I had. Cool amp but I just didn't get along with it.

Interesting to read some of the comments about the MK II. I had the Lifeson MK II for a bit. Wanted to like it in the worst way, but just couldn't connect with it for a lot of the same reasons. It was really flubby, especially in CH2. CH3 however, was one of THE best high-gain sounds I've ever experienced first-hand. Punchy, clear and cutting without being too harsh. Unfortunately, those aren't the tones I go for most of the time.

Even so, this thing looks like something I'd definitely like to check out. And MississippiMetal, very jealous! :D

I've had an ATS 120, and Access, a Tube 50 and a redbox - all were stellar. The tube 50 had an issue that was easily fixed and I had no problems with it teh entire time I owned it.

I have heard of some QC issues... but I am interested. Tried a grandmeister last week a the local GC - was pretty sweet

Looks pretty cool. I like that you can select KT88, EL34, 6L6 power section on the fly. Sort of like a futuristic Road King..
I've always been interested in these amps and loved the way they sounded in the hands of Carl Bell from Fuel, especially on Something Like Human. Tracks were mostly a Triamp and Diezel VH4 if I remember correctly.

Yep. The first album was all Triamp MKI, and the second album they ,mixed it with the VH4. They had some awesome tones on the first three albums.

Not so surprised to hear these comments. First H&K I ever played was a Triamp MK I at a Guitar Center. It just crushed all the killer 80's tones. A year or so later I was able to get a great deal on a used MK II because half of the LEDs were broken. H&K support sent me new ones no questions asked. Every interaction I've had with H&K support has been stellar. I now own seven H&K amps and can say that the "bass flub" comments don't surprise me as these amps are HIGHLY speaker-sensitive and react more to higher frequencies. (I think they design tones with a Strat). You have to spend time dialing in a Hughes & Kettner to your speakers, and with your ears, not your eyes. I loaned an amp to Michael Sweet from Stryper and he just happened to like this particular amp with the bass on zero. He couldn't believe it but my comment was, "If you love the tone, of what importance is it where the knobs point?" Now considering the purchase of H&K #s 8 and 9 (a Triamp MK III and a WARP).

Have gigged the heck out of my Tubemeister 36 & Grandmeister 36--no issues. Built solid! My Switchblade 100C from 2006 still slays most other amps. You just have to spend the time with the nerd knobs. I'm off to put speakers in my new (to me) Hughes & Kettner GL412!!

Play it cuz you love it!!

I got a Grandmeister back in March. I've been gigging it about 10-12 times a month since then. It's been reliable as hell for me. Great tones and flexibility all around. I carry my Tubemeister 36 as a back up. I use a Recto 2x12 still, with my G Major in the loop. It's convenient. I stack a 2 space rack case on the cab, with the two small amps, and a foot switch on top. Wheel it all in with a guitar on my back. One trip in from the car with no hassles. I did a few outside gigs over the summer...volume still wasn't a problem on 18 watts.

I'd love to get a Triamp MKIII. The problem would just be where to use it. It would just end up sitting like my other big amps. I keep a 50 watt switchblade combo at a steady Monday house band gig. That's the only time I go over 18 watts these days.

I've got six H&Ks now, obviously I'm a fan.

I've owned the entire H&K line at one point n time. Great amps. My fav was the Triamp MKI. No bullshit lights )which if they blow are in line w the tubes) shuts the amp down.

A local buddy of mine just got an MKIII that I'm gonna check out after the new year. Looks pretty neat w all the tube pairing n such. But it's gonna be hard to beat my VH4.. But never hurts to try.

Gsxrbusa, who has had a laundry list of heads, swears his triamp mk3 is the best high gain head he has owned. Won't STFU about it. He says the power tube pairing is fantastic, and the built in gate is perfect.

Odd Pauly, my lights both died. My amp never stopped working. I opened it up to replace them, and they connect to inverter boards, then to clips on the main board.

If the gate is like the one on the Grandmeister, it should be great.

Hey Matt... Maybe they fixed that issue. I had one of the first ones sold. Think the serial # was 004. Who knows. But mine def stopped working when the lights went out.

I'll give that MKIII a good run thru.

Let me know how it sounds! I'd love to give that bad boy a run, and blow what's left of my hearing out.

Idk my serial number, but mine was made in 2006 or 2007. Probably something they fixed by then.
