I wanted you to know about LOPO. same exact as Mojo or Vintage Headbox. Since they are in victorville the shipping is like $12. Just in case you go big.. never know

Steve,I was talking about your amp layout...you have really learned a lot,I can't wait to hear it,looks awsome!!!!
Jerry, love the way your amp looks, what does loopoline charge for a head box?

Very cool - I appreciate the tip! I will say that I'll be working with Bob Savage for cabs. He is gearing up to do some VERY cool stuff and we've been talking about some unique ideas... and he lives walking distance to my house... He's putting together a complete CAD-based routing capability/woodworking shop at his place...

Thanks Stan! You are not kidding - this has been a MASSIVE learning experience... I'll post my latest layouts tonight - they are much better - all the board lead dress is completely clean. SDM over at metro gave me his "seal of approval" on th board layout. :D

Steve

well then mr savage should get some dims from me and give me some quotes.

Lopo is about $130 ish not sure if thats regular or OEM. But its a killer price. tell Tiffany jerry from surreal sent ya.

Vlad did u try it?

Yeah...
It sounds pretty good, but I'm not sure if I did everything right.

1) It doesn't have as much gain as I thought it would. I'm using 2 22vold zener diods because my 20v didn't come in yet, but I doubt the difference between the 20v and the 22v is that great soundwise.

2) I'm getting some subtle phasing or wooshing sounds when I sustain a note.

Other than that, there's some promise here... I just need to work out the bugs.

Sorry for the necro post but I came across this after going a search on marshall gain mods. Can someone explain the original layout of the Jose MV mod, specifically the diodes. In the diagram is appears that the anodes are connected. Given my limited understanding of diodes I would assume that they have to be in series in the same direction (polarity wise) in order for the current to flow through?

Opposite polarity so one diode clips the tops and the other clips the bottoms.

Thanks. I have some 20v zeners on order, but I have an assortment of rectifier diodes (4007, 4001, 4002, 4006) that I want to test out

Rectifier diodes will clip way too soon, you could try LEDs I suppose.

Lots of amps use transistors hooked up as diodes (base/emitter only) like MPSA06 and 2N5400, there's probably a reason for that.
