Has anyone used Google Pay?

I am curious. I have seen it on some reverb listings.

Maybe they won't screw all of us as bad as paypal...

Experiences? Thoughts? Emotional outbursts?

PayPal still makes my blood boil.

I haven’t used it on any reverb listings but I’ve used google pay outside of reverb for paying for things in person. It’s the same thing as handing someone cash. There is no buyer protection - so the moment you send someone money and they accept it the money is effectively gone.

Not sure if on reverb if they offer a layer of protection but I wouldn’t send someone a payment via google pay unless I trusted them or could test the equipment first

I'm pretty sure it's akin to a credit card purchase... Google Pay links your credit/debit card, so if your card has protections, you have that. It's not like Venmo or Zelle/QuickPay.

Ahhj. Gotcha. It would be nice if they could compete with PayPal regarding protection and services. That's what I was hoping.

I did some looking and it appears if you utilize google pay through reverb you get reverb’s purchase protection, google pay’s site says for disputes you need to talk to the business that runs the application you purchased through.

Outside of any applications (just directly transferring from one person to another) it’s all debit cards / bank account links and it appears that there is no recourse / protection if the transaction goes awry
