Having some fun with the tan pants crowd

Who would have thought they'd get their panties in a wad so quickly for bringing awareness to the use of offensive terms when referring to a group of vintage amps. Since it's already down, here's what I posted...

In today’s culture could it really be appropriate to refer to a particular group of vintage amps as “blackface” or “brownface”? These are highly offensive terms yet here we are still using them to describe vintage gear. I get that these terms have been used to refer to this group of amps for decades, but the argument of that’s the way it’s always been doesn’t make it right. A different term needs to be used to classify these amps. I would think something like black panel would be more appropriate. Or even better just refer to the actual model of amp. It’s high time we do away with these types of words in their entirety and treat our fellow brethren with more respect.

They probably deleted because they know a good chunk of their users would unironically agree with the post, whereas a good chunk of those with sense will point out that there is zero racial element to the naming.

But conflict delayed is conflict multiplied, it will come to a head eventually, maybe even fracture some of the board.

And, while we're on the subject:
Can we stop referring to the Ampeg 8x10 as "The Fridge"? It's not cool. I make mine vibrate enough that it's a terrible place to rest your beverage. It ends up a hot mess.

K Thanks Bye

Strange how much "Rig-Talk Karma" one can accumulate by pissing off (or on) TGP. Maybe I should go make an account over there and troll TGP for street cred. At the rate I say "fuck", I don't think my account would last a month.

Heaven forbid I describe a thick, saturated midrange in a guitar tone as "Beefy" and piss off a vegan.

While we are at it:

Silverface = An elder
Band Master = Band conductor
Brown-eyed mod = Hispanic modification
Pink Taco = A Taco with a uterus
Pussy Melter = A handsome available man distortion pedal
Plexi = A legacy Marshall amp that is gender fluent
Triple X = Contains pornographic material that may not be suitable for all audiences

Not to mention how offensive it might be to Chicago Bears great William"The Refrigerator" Perry.

dude them and the sevenstring forum are both filled with such whiny babies that slap bans out for the most trivial things. i think rig-talk is the last corner where you can joke around and act like a normal human and talk gear. it’s not even about pc shit, you can get banned for having a civil disagreement with certain regulars. or at least catch one of their “warnings”

Considering sevenstring is owned by the same parent conglomeration as TGP it's not surprising. I wonder if any of them see the irony in their proclaiming of fairness & tolerance that they are the most intolerant and unfair forums on the web

Post this shit… I am surprised MTV got away with this… now the world would come unglued

That has to be a spoof video, or something Disney made in the 40's that MTV got ahold of.

One of these days I'm gonna go for a perma-ban offending pretty much everyone on that forum and post something about doing a high gain mod on a Dumble

You can say that there. I say it sometimes but it just comes out as ****.

In the case of op's harmless post...they were just preemptively shutting it down since they knew it would anyway. That place can't handle it.

While I have been saying Black panel for a little while...I wonder if anybody is really offended by that term? The virtue signalers are always trying to find someone to signal their virtues upon.
