Wish ya would've gotten to check out the Sovtek. Not as aggressive, but you can get similar tones, and a boost would get you there. I am not used to playing with such an aggressive tone as you had dialed in on the Marshall. Its definately different than how I would normally set it up. I figured I'd screw around for a little and see if I liked it.

True, the Modena 90 is a far better amp. We are not talking just a bit better, the 90 kills the EVH. It won't even last the weekend. That said the EVH is better to my ears than the JVM .

I actually like the 5150 and the JVM for different reasons. I think they both have there strong parts. Never heard the Modena in person. Most people who know me who have heard the amp in person pretty much tell me that I would dig it. That said, Im not a fan of the price lol
