I've had good results using Deoxit D5 to clean scratchy pots, but I'm not sure where to spray it on this fancy MV pot. My initial thought was in that tiny crack at the base of the shaft, but I'd appreciate recommendations for best application. Thanks!

Im a hack, I literally thought my amp was broken the other day because one of my pedals broke so don't listen to me for tech advice but...thats exactly where I would spray it, in that little Crack.

Can't imagine it would hurt anything, that stuff is literally designed to be sprayed on electronics so why not give it a shot?

Thanks, I decided to give the D5 a go in that little crack and it seems to have done the trick. I did a little reading and opinions seem mixed on the D5 vs F5 for pots. Shea at Monomyth seems to think D5 is ok:

I'd blast it in the crack.

I've been using LPS Greaseless Lubricant since forever. They discontinued it a while back, but I bought three cans off ebay while I could. I'm down to my last can.

It looks like they still make it, but I'm not sure it's the same. The stuff from the 90s probably kills puppies and puts a hole in the sky, but it fucking works! I'll have to find something else once this can is out.

I've had pots ruined by F5 where it took out all of the lubrication, and no amount of attempting to re-lubricate it fixed it. Maybe I was a gorilla and blew too much in there, but I never had that issue with D5 in the decades I've been using it. So I've stuck with D5 or D100 with the needle applicator for ultra fine work like the pots in this pic.

D5 is what I've used on several guitars and pedals. I haven't had any issues either.
