Hey guys. I need to get some pups for my Luxxtone. I don't have a ton of cash so it looks like I will be getting some Duncans, but that's fine, because I like Duncans quite a bit. I usually would order up a Super V, but the price has now been increased to 160 for one of them.
I will be cool with a 59 in the neck, unless someone has another suggestion. Has anyone played both a 59 and a Pearly gates in the neck position? Which do you prefer and why?
Ok, here is the issue. I would prefer something mid output to lower hi output. I DONT want anything that gets muddy, fuzzy, or feels kind of mushy. I want something that is pretty tight, I like it when you do the chuggah chuggah thing and the muted e string is tight, not flubby, like if you hit a tight bass drum with zero decay. It must be very articulate and on the brighter side, I like to keep a transparent sounding hi gain, clear definition, and a decent mid range, but not over powering. I have never played the Custom 5, but I am interested in it. I have played the JB and Distortion and liked the,m both, but they were also both missing something also. My attention has also been piqued bu the 59 hybrid. I don't want an Invader, that's for sure. Has anyone played the Super V? Any other Duncans similar to it?
Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance fellas!!
I cant stress how much I don't like flubby bass. It has to be tight!!
