this might be a dumb question .....

when you check to see if the pick up is working .... how are you doing so ?? just plugging into a amp to see if you have sound .. ??

or do you tap the coils ( poles ) with a screw driver or something else metal ???

wondering if you only have half the pickup working ......
I just plugged in…. Like that time me and @paulyc went camping….

Yeah, it could be that. Maybe the leads for the coil tap are shorted out. I said to just eliminate variables and start jumping things with a jumper wire and see if it makes a difference. Bypass the tone, bypass the volume, jump it to the output and check it.
No coil tap. Or you mean the pick up wire for that?

you need to make sure the North Finish and the South Finish wires are soldered together for each pick up and taped off so they can't touch anything

the colors of those wires will vary from maker to maker ..... Seymour Duncan 's are red and white

look at the diagram I posted on page 2 of this awesome thread

If I’m seeing that picture on page 1 right, that white wire from volume to switch is connected to a ground lug on the switch. Those two tabs soldered together are the output. The big fat ‘tab’ that the white wire is soldered together is ground.

He's getting there ....

I didn't sand the shine off my CTS pots when installing them, damn! I guess that means they could disconnect??

I only did that after I covered it in solder…cause you can never be too sure….

All my threads are awesome bro…I’m an awesome kinda guy….

It's going to feel good when he finally gets it all working, like that time he went camping.

Problem is with both pups though not the one. The bridge pup is a two wire Roxy that Scott made…..

I switched lugs on the volume pot just to see what that did. Almost no output at all. I’m done for now and have to help my son anyway. When I get back I’m switching pots and bypassing the tone pot. The Duncan has higher output so I might switch positions also. For now…fuck this shit….💩
