Good output but I have a ground issue now. 🤪😂
Three tricks for ground issues.

1) Star pattern. I like to bring all of my grounds to one point, usually the volume knob. I do the pickup grounds, switch ground, and tone pot all to the volume knob and then the volume knob to the jack. This way, if you lose ground somewhere, you can figure it out by touching stuff and seeing what does and doesn't stop the buzz.

2) Twisting leads. I twist the wires together coming off of everything to reduce noise. It's the same as using shielded cable, but I'll usually just use regular wire, like white for hot and black for ground. I'll twist the hot and ground together from pot to pot, or switch to pot, or pot to jack to reduce noise. I'll even do that with pickup leads, like Fender single coils, or that Bill Lawrence pickup I just did in the LP.

Hopefully it isn't #3.

3) Shield the cavity(s). Most manufacturers use conductive shielding paint inside control cavities, but not all. Sometimes the solution is to go get copper tape (with conductive adhesive) and cover the inside cavity (and covers) to build a Faraday Cage for your guitar guts. I've done everything behind a strat pickguard to control cavities and switch and jack cavities. It's tedious and time consuming, but it helps.

My ground from my switch is the problem but I can’t figure out why. I squeezed the tabs together with my jumper and soldered it but it is buzzing… …. Going outside….

Thank you for posting this knowledge.

Thanks again bezo… you are the man…. I think the ground issue is the ground from the switch but I’m tired of fucking with it. Also what is the point of the gigantic orange capacitor? Should I leave it? I know it’s not finished yet but it sounded kinda dark to me. I’m really close to pulling everything out and just going two humbuckers->volume->output jack…and of course toggle…thoughts?

Everything works, buzz and noise is gone… my output is about 50% of what it should be… fuck….

this might be a dumb question .....

when you check to see if the pick up is working .... how are you doing so ?? just plugging into a amp to see if you have sound .. ??

or do you tap the coils ( poles ) with a screw driver or something else metal ???

wondering if you only have half the pickup working ......

Yeah, it could be that. Maybe the leads for the coil tap are shorted out. I said to just eliminate variables and start jumping things with a jumper wire and see if it makes a difference. Bypass the tone, bypass the volume, jump it to the output and check it.
