Hey guys, so I have a Mesa 2x12 Recto which Im positive its the V30 speakers but don't know what ohm they are. I can't really open it up because I'm right in the middle of a recording session.

But here is why I ask. I was thinking about switching out one of the speakers for either a k100 or emv12l. I hear that the EMV12L only comes in 8 ohms but the black label comes in 16 ohms. So what ohm would I need for the Mesa and does anyone have experience with those three speakers to give me their opinions.

This will be mostly for rock/metal recordings.

Thanks

Thanks Eric

So I guess this narrows it down to a black label EVM or a K100

Thoughts??

Well, I can't see the EVM12L mixing well with a V30, at least not in a live application, it would likely overpower the V30. Maybe the two tones recorded individually and mixed to sit well, could sound great. On the other hand, i've heard great things about the V30/K100 combo. It seems like the V30 fills the mids the K100 lacks a little of, and the K100 handles the lows and highs. Making for a pretty full sound. I've been wanting to try this combo myself. But probably in a set of 1x12s, ran with my axe rig. I'm not sure how I really feel about mixing speakers in a single cab. I've had good and bad experiences.

Cheers!
