He had a truckload of Marshalls stolen at one point, too, and had to use backline amps until he could get more shipped over.

Let me clarify- He played the Newport Pop Festival w/ the Experience 6/20/69. He used the Strat w/ Tele neck and his usual Marshalls. For whatever reason, rowdy audience, etc, he was really pissed after this gig.
He returned 2 days later on 6/22/ 69 and jammed with a bunch of folks, including Buddy Miles. The Fender Showman amps w/ JBL 15" speaker cabs were likely the backline for that show. It's just a jam. Very raw tone, but it has it's moments. This is the whole jam-

Man it's crazy, we have so many talented and cool people that participate in this forum, and this post started as "rig talk" it was about the amps and also how unusual it is to see Jimi playing through Fender gear, and it's no surprise to see someone who was A) writing the book and B) often super wasted, to have a strange performance,. If I saw a guy play like that now on the sidewalk of Venice beach, I'd say he's a jerk, but Jimi's sheer recklessness and carelessness completely changed the guitar from an instrument that supported pianos and saxaphones, to the king of all lead instruments. Why every thread turns into some sort of mud slinging troll fest is beyond me, I would encourage other members to be more conscious about using insulting language, or find another "yo mama" forum or somewhere where people actually want to read that junk

The purpose of this thread was the amps. Anyone who's been alive the last 40 or 50 years knows the major impact James Marshall Hendrix had the short time he was with us.

To suggest he was sub-par or deficient in some way shows complete ignorance and lack of character.

He was the hottest thing running since the invention of 2 titz & a Vajaja.

I'm not disputing that he revolutionized the guitar or anything. Just didn't think that video was very good. If you walked into a club today and a guy sounded like that (but not playing hendrix covers) would you stick around and watch??
