I dig it. "pocket rocket" could also be cool. Logo is cool too. Has a sort of 1950's/60's charm to it.

Doesn't the Friedman brand own that name already?

Sorry I couldn't help myself. No offense intended towards Dave and his killer amps.

If it was a Friedman it would look
More phallic with a 1950 looking chic
Riding on it

OK, I couldn't wait... :D

So here is the reveal of the new name and logo for this amp. In keeping with my fireworks theme:

Cool, huh?

Steve
I don't like the name "Bottle Rocket", or the logo design.

When I think fireworks, I think made in China, smoke, sparks, flames, detonation, etc... Just not a good theme for an electrical device IMO. Using themes to sell products is cheesy marketing BS! Leave that shit to pedal builders... :salute:

The name "Henning" alone is more than adequate. Why not just designate your line of amplifiers: Henning SH100 / Henning SH50 / Henning SH25? :dunno:

It's your baby, you do what you want... I don't think cheap gimmicks are needed here.

Go!

One man's "cheesy marketing BS" is another's "giving personality to the product line". One thing I've learned in various businesses over time is that you can't please everyone, so you do what you want and what your guts tells you...

Selling guitar amplifiers is an overtly commercial enterprise.

I still think it's awesome. Have fun with the name rather than the boring old conventional SH100, or SH50 etc etc..

Steve
How do you figure? What is overt about selling an guitar amplifier? Overtly being the adjective...

At least you don't have a built-in cup-holder, and a name like Firebolt.  I better watch out... :scared:

^ Not sure why the semantic game is rearing it's ugly head here.

I personally have no problem with a theme for the line to help market it as long as it's done right. In doing that you need have the logos and looks of the amps carry the theme in a professional way which I thought the "Cherry Bomb" did. Like I said before I think the logo here is weak... from my perspective as a professional artist/designer the rocket is "clip art" looking with a generic font slapped on it but Steve and some others like it and if Steve likes it...... I guess that's all the matters.

Overt - done or shown openly; plainly or readily apparent, not secret or hidden.

Commercial - prepared, done, or acting with sole or chief emphasis on salability, profit, or success.

Overtly commercial - openly prepared with chief emphasis on salability, profit or success.

I contend that people selling guitar amplifiers (or any product, frankly) are engaged in an overtly commercial enterprise. One that is openly done with chief emphasis on salability, profit or success...

No?

I appreciate your thoughts and everyone else's as well, but as I said, I dig it and you are correct that in this case, that is all that matters. ;)

Things like logo design are a matter of personal taste and I've surmised that if I took every piece of input I received from folks, I'd never get anything to market. Somebody's gotta make the final decision, and in this case, that guy is me, for right or wrong... no matter what I decide, some people are gonna love it and some are gonna hate it...

overtly (adverb) - in an overt manner

I'm correct whether used as an adverb or adjective. But seriously, why are we getting into this anyway? It's silly semantics with no purpose...

Another update...

As I mentioned, we're doing a bit of re-design and as we went through adding an additional Gain/Bright control set that moved the controls closer together, we decided to change the control layout in a way that will yield a better PCB design. Check it out:

It's typical of me to challenge a decision or idea. Like I said, it's your amp... I would have preferred Cherry Bomb 50, since I really like the cherry bomb cutouts in the grill.

Do what you love, Steve. The amp looks great, it will sell, and owners will love it. There are lots of options out there for people who prefer a different tone, look, size, power output, etc.

The amp looks great, the name and logo...well not my thing, I would think something more sleek or classy would be better.
I understand not everyone will love the idea and the creator has final say, but a bit of market research might help. If people here are a significant portion of a targeted market, I'd put a focus group together or a RT poll or something to get feedback before going into production.

But I care more about tone anyway- which I'm sure this will deliver.
