You never see Vai attempt to play an acoustic guitar- correctly. And yes, there is a correct way and a wrong way. This is simple - because he blows serious chunks on acoustic and the douche will never "begin" to take the time necessary and learn how to truly and properly "finger-style" pick with all 5-fingers at large correctly. In my humble opinion, if you play any acoustic guitar and you're not taught to play "without any pick" first or you do not learn as your own resource, then you haven't been exposed to the true ability that a decent good quality acoustic guitar can do for you and the more enjoyment the instrument will bring to you and others you share with.
You don't need a $1,000,000 custom experimental 12-string cutaway dreadnaught guitar such as the one hanging in my private studio.

Wasn't that fantastic that I can play a guitar without my 5,000 effects units and my coat hanger wired tube box.
And don't commit suicide preemptively by injecting 12-string guitar into this because I will annihilate you at 3,280 feet (1km) in a blink of an eye, and lettuce be everclear, I never make threats I only make ironclad promises.

The guy is as genuine as one can be and his skills and knowledge are miles ahead of the rest.
