Yeah he had medical issues. I think he did do some hot licks tapes. He was one of a handful of shredders that was able to secure a high dollar record deal. I imagine he would've done some big things had he lived longer, he was setting the bar pretty high in his day.

Theres a laundry list of shredders that were hand picked by Mike Varney in the 80s. Literally any of those guys I would label as shredders over Vai or Satch. Lane was a shrapnel guy too.Who are the greatest ‘shredders’ then? Not being facetious, honestly those would be the only 3 I think I could name

OK I am def not a fan of shredders then haha—I was around back then and am familiar enough with the shrapnel stuff to know it’s not my cup at all. I would much rather listen to Satch, Vai and to a lesser extent Malmsteen. Shit, I thought EVH was a shredder lol

I cannot put into words how much I hate the pitch corrected american idol style "shopping mall sass" vocals. I can't not see her doing the christina aguilera up-and-down-with-the-pitch hand thing the whole time.
The solo was really good all things considered though. Tone was fantastic too. It was the only thing about that song that didn't make me want to JUMP off a bridge.

Yeah. It was a screenshot I took when they did that interview about EVH tone or something a few years back. When Joe was on his quest for the perfect amp that would give him EVH tone and swing right out of the box.
