Hi gainers that fly under the radar?

There's no doubt a lot of brand loyalty here... How about some great high gain amps (with a nice clean channel) that don't get much mention on RT?
Ill start with the:
Rivera K Tre/Knucklehead

It gets mention but a lot of it is negative. I think the Uberschall is one of the best high gainers in existence. Not for everybody, but it's certainly not a "one trick pony" and I think both the clean and gain channels are great.

I had a K tre. You are exactly on target with that one. Great Rivera clean channel and kidney shaking high gain thump.

The old standby DSL100 has a great clean channel. I owned a TJ with the purple mod. The clean channel on it would cover new country with a tele and compressor. Don't forget the 5153.

I'd say that amplifier is hardly "flying under the radar"

Definitely going to add Bray modified amplifiers to the list. His panther series is up there.

I agree on the gain channel. IMO it's one of the best I've heard. The clean channel on the one I had was so much lower in volume than the high gain channel, that it made it pretty useless. Really digging the versatility of my Framus Dragon! Covers everything I need from an amp!

Was it lower in volume or did you have to crank the volume to get it even? I had ano issues getting them even on mine, I just had to turn up the volume on the clean channel which for some reason, freaks people out. It sounded good to my ears so I don't care what the knob positions looked like.

I could not get the cleans loud enough to keep up with the high gain channel. But, really, no one buys an Uberschall for the clean channel! I could not keep it just for the one channel. If I could justify a multi-amp rig, I might still have it. But i needed one amp that was more versatile. So far, my Framus is more than getting the job done!

What are the Uberschalls running for on the used market?

I'd put the Mesa Single Rec in there...took me a week or so to hit the clean channel but when I did I was shocked. SHOCKED I tell you! With a good delay and the right neck pup this thing is slow solo heaven.

I do not think there is any ?

I see all the different amp brands / models - named on here from time to time.
Everything mentioned above I have seen mentioned many times....

Rivera's aren't under the radar, most people don't care for their gain structure.

I like the way Riveras mix with other amps but I don't dig them much on their own.

I can't really think of any good high gainers that aren't mentioned here from time to time. Lots of vintage style amps come to mind though. But that's what TGP is for.

When i think of flying under the radar, i believe it to be across all music forums in relation to what is commonly used or seen in the music market versus what is mentioned most often by the community.

Rivera's do fly under the radar. Their popularity is not as large as others. Subjective opinion of course. There are many others, but being as though exposure on our end has seen or heard of most, i cant honestly think of anything else?

Mesa DC-5 or the F-Series. Cheap on the used market.

Engl Blackmore

Maybe some of the older 2 channel VHt's

Agree on the K-Tre. Mine is a bad ass amp for sure. I've had a ton of amps and can say the Tre holds it's own with all I've had.

Brunetti. Great handmade Italian amps.

I have the 059 head.

Now... My new Marshall 1987x has a bit more grandeur and response, my Dr Z Carmen Ghia has a better light crunch, and a Fender Twin has a better clean.

But I have yet to hear an amp that can get really close to all of them, has 3 channels, EQ swap, 20/100w switch, loop bypass, Plexi mode... All MIDI controllable.

It really is one hell of an amp. But I guess the US doesn't see a whole lot of them.

Blackmore that's a good one right there, forgot all about it!
