looking for a high wattage greenback,...something that actually sounds like a greenback!!
here's what i been thinking,...

-celestion creamback-celestion claims this to be a high wattage greenback,..but they also said the same thing about the G1265's

-WGS- greenback (high wattage)-havent had any experience with WGS,..i like the clips,..price is right,..

here's what i have tried,..but didnt sound like a greenback to me!

-G1265w-liked them...but didnt sound like a greenback to me,..at any volume..
-SCUMBACKS-. had a M75 & H75 combo,..again.;.i liked them..but they didnt sound like a greenbacks to me!

anyone have hands on expierence with both a greenback and a high wattage counterpart?

i have been using an old 2x15 fender bass-man cab which i took the baffle board out of and installed a 4x12 baffle board with 2,.. V-30'S in the bottom,..top 2 holes empty,..(i do this and love it,..to all my cabs)

and a 8x12 cab with 4,.. 1777 coned greenback's in the 4 bottom holes,..top 4 speaker holes (again) empty...both cabs have 2 input jacks so i can isolate any two sets of speakers,....i have been using a pair of green backs in the 8x12 cab with the pair of v-30's in the fender cab,..love it!!..sounds great to my ears,..well last night...while jamming the pair of greenbacks cut out ,...dead!...i thought i blew them...i take the back panel off the 8x12,..and as i was going to remove the greenbacks,..i grabbed the speaker frames,..and they were hot!!...not hot enough to burn ya,..but hot enough that after a minute it would be uncomfortable,..

i went to bed,..thought i would look at it through sober eyes in the morning,..i plugged in both sets of greenbacks,..and unplugged the v-30's,...good as new,..no problems at all

For what it's worth, maybe try a Lynchback and see what you think of it. To my ears and with my setup I think it has the low end characteristics of a V30 and some of the warmth of a Greenback. I personally love how it sounds in my Bogner OS style 2x12 cabinet.

Check out the Weber Legacy. You can choose magnet size, wattage, and dust cap size.

A greenback clone would be a 30oz magnet with a small dust cap and since you want more wattage choose 65 watts.

I have several of the WGS's and I love the tones I'm getting with them.
Retro 30 is the closest to a green back of the WGS's I have used so far.
I also own a ET90 and a Vet 30.
The ET 90 I have in my Zinky combo in particular KILLS!!!
This is the little Zinky Velvet combo running the ET 90 recorded off a camera mic with the amp unmiced and running only a Boss delay and a wah.

What's it going in?

Have you ever sampled a Splawn "Small Block"?? Definitely in that Greenback family. And best thing about 'em (besides a friendly price tag), they sound pretty great early in their life, doesn't need tons of break in time (in my experience).
