I would just sit tight with them for now, and don't decide to do anything with them just yet. I believe Jake is right though.

By law if something is shipped to your address that you didn't order, it is legally yours. If it is destined for a different address or has somebody else's name on it then it is good conduct to see that the rightful owner gets it. Otherwise find five friends buy a bunch of beer and have a killer time dude.
Could you direct me to something official that states that by any chance?

Who cares if its a law or not. What is important is you do what is right to you ethically speaking... That is what really matters. I wouldn't steel from someone even if I knew that it was impossible to get caught....

That's just me...

If Microsoft followed the same ethics you speak of it wouldn't steal from its customers day in and day out. Business as usual. The world is round, everything you do comes back to you. I'd say keep it, but I'm a bastard like that anyway.

Normally I would agree with this, but not in this case. As I said earlier, Microsuck is scandalous and I think it's ludicrous that they haven't just fixed the problem with the hardware yet. They even redesigned the xbox 360 recently and didn't address the overheating issue. Fuck them. They deserve to be ripped off IMO.

It's not stealing from 'someone', it's stealing from a dishonest multi-billion dollar company. I would be okay with that. :D

The above posts are the only reason I'd consider keeping them. I've already had to have 4 boxes fixed, 1 of them on my dime, and 2 more I paid shipping for. Fucking ridiculous. And they've done some less than ethical things to me previous to the 360 as well.

I'm still looking for proof of the law I stated above. Can't for the life of me remember what it's called  I'm looking out for you bro.

I was thinking about calling them and asking if they have the shipping records for my order. Tell them I was sent "an extra.." and see what they say. If they say keep it, I've got 5 boxes. If they want "the extra" back, I've got 4. Good enough for me.

I don't know if I should call them at all though.

When I worked in receiving for an electrical supply company in Minneapolis, we accidentally received a box intended for Best Buy. It had like 24 of those Kodak digital picture frames. I was seriously considering selling them and no one would have found out, but I couldn't bring myself to do it...stupid conscience. :(

I commend you bro, good man. Nothing stupid about that bud

Don't fool yourselfs in beliving Microsoft will lose money with this. Microsoft sells their stuff to small retailers across the country, and they are the ones that get fucked in cases like this.

Don't get me wrong, Do I hate Microsoft? Yes a lot. But that is another issue we can discuss in another thread. Should you have gotten a PS3 instead, probably Yes.

What separates us from stealing someone from a billionaire with the excuse that he probably doesn't need it anyway? Same thing here. Plus

Microsoft is a public firm owned by million of american families, you are not ripping of Mr. Gates
...

Do whatever YOU think is right.

I would just send back 1 with a nice note inside saying, "hey guys, umm like, you totally sent me an extra Xbox mmmkay and umm like I want to do what is right and what Jesus says, so here you go!"

Make sure it's on a my little pony card or some bullshit, then light one on fire, AT LEAST 1. then sell the rest. BLAMMO!

But make sure when you light that one on fire, you make a weird subliminal viral video that has some sort of Anti Microsoft message and make sure you don't show your face or anything, make it super weird and creepy then hit the town with your new earnings and get some Hookers and Blow!

Fuckin champion story right there!

or you could donate 4 of them to a charity for some po' kids and feel super warm and snuggly inside, doing good while still fucking with M$

sounds good to me.

Peace Easy!

im a huge 360 fan but theyre giant tampon peices of shit. keep all of them so youll always have a back up for when the one thats hooked up goes.

If you want to sell me one then give me a pm when you figure out what you want to do with them.

Dave

thats awesome man !!! .... i remember once when i was into the hot rod thing i ordered a part for my car that costed like 80 bucks and was the sie of an emg pickup box. when the ups guy showed up he had something more along the lines of a small practice amp size box. i opened it up to find 10 of what i had ordered, so needless to say i made a little money off that particular order :D

Call them and ask if there's a "reward" for sending back the "one" extra system you got back. If they don't offer you anything other than their gratitude, keep all of them and make some money on them.

So you now have six xbox's? That's about a four month supply.

:D

Srsly. A good friend of mine has been after one for ages but he can't sneak that kind of money past the wife. But, we can make it look to the wife like I owe him a small bit of money. So, if you decide to sell them, I'd like dibs on one. I'll give you a fair price for it. Just shoot me a PM if/when you're ready.

Any time you steal something it comes out of someones pocket. It does not matter if it is a company or individual. In this case it would seem no one here knows who's pocket that is.

As far as legal or not ..... who cares. I can think of lots of laws that are very wrong. That is hardly a good a way to judge if something is wrong or not.

I would give them back myself.

Don't listen to the "high on your horse" comments, keep the consoles Microsoft will not go bankrupt from this logistical error in their distribution chain. Nor are you responsible for their ineptness...

Besides it could have been planned, they know the new console will fail and wanted you to have backup units so you wouldn't need to call back so soon for a new one. <snicker>

I was about to post the same thing, when I was younger I probably would have said fuck them and kept it but doing contract work for larger companies it could be the little guy left holding the bag not Microsoft in the end. For all you know the company that contracts out the repairs could be some young guy that got his first major contract with MS doing drop shipping for repairs and something like this could break him or cause major fuck ups and overdraws on his books.
