Here is one of the first Jose’s I did. I do many of my own circuit tweaks as I learned to follow my own ears but the basic Jose Circuit foundation is what Mark improved on. As Mark states, no one really can do anyone else’s mods as they do not have person X’s ears. Kind of like needing hand transplants to play EVH correctly for the most part.

This amp came in for service between owners as it was indeed in need.

I have ordered a 1987X from 1993 coming in soon. I am not certain which High Gain Mod I will do but it most likely will have a Metropoulos Zero Loss Effects Loop installed.

Best Regards, David

Hopkins Take On HG Jose:

Here is a comprehensive video of a 3 & 4 analog tube High Gain Mod I call “ Pandora”. It does indeed include an optional switchable clipper on a DPDT much like what many guys are using which operates off of the CF ( Cathode Follower).

There are a couple other mods that I will offer. Both the Pandora & MorningStar Mods may have a Single Master Volume crystal clear foot-switchable Clean Channel added (With NO Foot-Switch Pop). This comes with a tone switch to accommodate both different guitars and speaker cabs.

Hopkins Pandora Mod:

Sounds mean, chewy, and tight. Everything i like in a woman and everything I like in an amp.

lol...Thank you!

@OP Great modded Marshall amp tone and your playing sounded equally killer as well. Any more details about your amp mods or a website that other people can find out about your amp mods?

Thank you for the interest Guitar George.

Guitarists can visit my YouTube page at NewReligion1954 and go through many video examples to include low Master Volume setting Questions to Gain Pot Taper Tutorials.

But I offer 4 different Mod Foundations

1.) Most Popular...Pandora = 3 & 4 stage (High & Low input) all tube analog High Gain. Comes with a Cathode Follower Clipper Switch consistent with a Friedman SAT switch which is totally bypassed unless engaged by DPDT Switch and Fixed Resonance or on a Pot. This Mod is offered with a Simple Single Master Volume Noiseless (No Pop) Foot Switchable Clean Channel with Voicing DPDT Switch to accommodate different Guitars & Cabs. ( Cleans up nicely with guitar volume pot).

2.) MorningStar = Same as the Pandora but Tighter & Brighter.

3.) Jose = MV, Gain 1 & Gain 2 with Fixed Clippers or 1 and or 2 way clippers on a switch with Resonance/Depth Pot in addition to Voicing Pot if desired. Single input.

Buffered Metropoulos Zero Loss Effects Loops & Passive Effects Loops are available.

For more information send email to New_Religion@Live.com

Thank you again for the interest.

Respectfully, David Hopkins

I thought I would add an optional mod I offer after developing it for RT fellow member danburton

If anyone wants to know, Davids work is top notch. First off David is a 24 year veteran (Army), a hero defending this wonderful Country and a true red blooded American. David is one hell of a nice guy and will communicate every step of his modification process with you as the customer and will do everything and anything to make sure the customers needs are satisfied in the end. Between emails, texts and long phone calls, David will go over every detail of the work that he is doing with you and will be in constant communication with you from when the amp leaves your house to the time it is at the FED EX portal being shipped back to you.

When David says he does Cameron type mods, he isn't kidding. FYI he is friends with Mark Cameron and they share circuit ideas with one another.

If you want your Marshall or any type Marshall type based circuit amp to have "that" hot, Marshall on steroids sound with harmonics that just explode off of your fret board then David is the guy to do your mod. If you want the tone of your late 70s, 80s and early 90s guitar heroes with that "hot Marshall" type sound then David has achieved those tones with his Pandora mod.

I have a Friedman BE100 and a Bogner Helios and both amps are great stock, but my Hopkins Pandora Mod Marshall JCM800 just has some extra mojo going on.
