OD with built in noise gate. Pretty cool. I think this is the first video they released but no ON/Off demo.

 
please post a link to preorder. i am too computer illiterate to do anything but click and pay. thanks.
 
I preordered, a boost with a gate built in sounds great to me. Apparently there's an Ola demo posting up later today too.
 
There are raw on/off clips on the site and yes Ola will post a vid today.

We are pretty surprised by how many orders we received but the nice thing is that MXR is building these for us so it's a non-issue.

Sweet I saw the list of clips but didn't check them. Now I have something to do :). Edit: sounds good to me. On my phone but it doesn't seem to color the tone much in the clips but then I guess it can if desired which is great. Looking fwd to Ola's clip.

I'm not surprised they're going to sell. You all made some very good moves with this endeavor imo. That millennial mindset article left an imprint when I read it and this is just more evidence that it works.

Do I see a Fortin designed/Horizon specd amp in the future?
 
This is definitely on the radar. Christmas tapped me out but I will have a couple of pedals to sell shortly and might be able to snag one.
 
Has anyone bought this pedal yet ? I am intrigued but was looking for feedback. Sorry to slightly necromance a thread.

But these are pre orders and they are not shipping for a few months AFAIK?

Looks cool, but the price is pretty steep for an MXR build. MXR building them should bring the price lower.

Not trying to step on anyone's toes here but here was my thought process.

I really wanted one but a $200 pre order I was unsure about. The benefit would be great. I could sell my OD and a Decimator to pay for it completely and free up a spot on the pedal board at the same time. Plus it was designed for Modern, sounded perfect.

But then I started following and really watching and IDK man. There is something to be said about Pro Players and their demos. If they want it to sound good, it will sound good. Ola, Merrow and Misha are the only people to have demo this from what I could find and all of those guys are Pro's know how to make shit sound good no matter what and IDK....I really wanted to see an average Joe play this in his basement through an Iphone or a cheap video cam or something.

The latest video I posted was the most raw video there is and even then, No offense Misha you are the man but at the same time you are eagerly trying to sell these pedals so who knows what processing was done in the videos. Perhaps none whatsoever but idk man. I opted to wait.

Plus the fact that all the time they keep saying "limited" get them "while they last" all that stuff is like sales pitch 101 and rubbed me the wrong way. If these pedals are THAT good, they should stick around for a very long time like the Maxon. Only time will tell.

So anyway if I had the extra cash, hell ya..This would be a killer pedal I bet. But I do not have tons of cash and have to make my purchases wisely so I decided to wait. If they are limited like they say and I never get to try one then so be it. I am perfectly happy with my OD and I was not willing to get rid of it to roll the dice. Plus MXR Smart Gate.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I like the gate/OD in one pedal so this has my attention. I do not djent at all. I like hard rock, shred and old school thrash but that's as heavy as I get. I wasn't sure if this pedal had hit the market yet but it appears it has a few months to go. I'll keep my eyes open.
 
So basically this is like misha's pro tone pedal and an mxr smart gate in one?

I can't speak on either. MXR is making this pedal but I'm unsure if the gate is the same layout of the smart gate and also idk if it's the same as the Pro Tone.

If you're really interested to know I'd say to join their FB group as ask some of the people involved.

I preordered. This was my thought process. If I like it, I could sell my boost/gate for around $200 and be even. If I don't like it, I can always resell it for $200 or more. He's got a weird cult following and some folks who missed out are going to want them bad if they are really "limited edition only".

That is a very good point. I'm sure you'd have no problems whatsoever unloading it in the future. If they're limited like they say you could make a few dollars in the process if you don't like it.

It's a heavily tweaked Smart Gate I believe but I wasn't overly involved in the R&D process, that was more Misha, Bob Cedro and some of the other engineers I believe.

The gate can go from a noise reduction type of thing all the way to super tight djenty stuff.

I'm more of a death metal guy so I usually use it about half way up closer to the tight setting.
 
Haven't seen any NGD's so I'm sure nobody has this yet but aren't these supposed to be shipping soon?
 
First batch are now shipped so some people got their pedals, i should get mine sometime next week. There is some clips on Horizon Devices facebook page. So far the customers are really happy with the results.
