Also players like Nick Johnson, Tosin Abasi, Fujima etc etc play Bad Cats now......

They arent your typical cookie cutter dudes either playing your basic pedestrian stuff or with that type of tone either......

That be some good company and some real All Stars using Bad Cat ^_^

I liked the lynx but was always playing with the settings. Then id come back to it with fresh ears and not be happy with what I dialed in. Its a pretty unique voicing and I still believe its a high gain AC30, the upper mids were just too much for me
Honestly I'm experiencing some of that always playing with the settings....the controls are interactive.
50 watt Marshalls are my thing and bass is for bass players, I don't care if it's tight, I turn it down, tend to turn up the presence......Bass very low priority for me. Often turn it all the way down on many amps. I'm playing in a casual group these days in A440.
In the past I played for years a half step down and avoided drop tunings like the plague......never was a fan of playing one finger chords and having to reconsider my fingering for lead work......Too many people doing that IMO.

It does have some Vox signature in the sound but vastly different beast being push pull EL34 as opposed to Cathode bias 4 el84

I'll go back to that if one is running the power amp on 2 or 3 or the main vol.......That's just plain missing the point

Compared to a lot or the next leading brand it really doesn't have a lot of features really which is a good thing, its pretty simple and straightforward, practical and easy to use with loads of range and flexibility too.

Simple stuff like the Lo/Hi switch per channel just add to the tonal pallet.
There's still lots of great 1 channel amps out there

Dogshit would be my discription.
You certainly are of strong opinions and know what you like.
Your handle says a lot, does your taste stray much beyond metal?
I can't say I've ever played a tube amp I hated.
To better understand your preferences, would you mind naming some of your favorite amps.

I lean towards Marshall based thrash tones. Friedmans, Bogner, Laney, and some Mesas. Lots of great amps out there, the Asian made Archon is a great sounding amp at half the price of the Bat Cat. Funny, first Lynx I ordered, they sent a Hot Cat by mistake. I found the Hot Cat a better sounding amp and was tempted to keep it.

The Lynx was just not my cup 'o tea. It was nothing like described in my opinion. I just loathed it.

Same for me. Endless tweaking, never happy with the results.

Killer price man just saw it. Honestly compare to the others....... It depends on what your after but I'd let one of the others or both of the others go and keep the Bad Cat.

IMO it's just a much much better amp than either the PRS or EVH and much better built too.

The Lynx looks an awful lot like the infamous Mark Cameron Standel prototype…

Like Princetons right...... but only do one thing good..... and not all that flexible on their own.......

The Lynx can do a lot on its own..... no pedals needed...... Plenty of range and more gain than most would need and great to have too..... with no pedals, no need for other stuff.

It's friggin amazing ^_^

My Lynx had been very weird. First thing I figured out was that it needs good power. I was ready to sell it and decided to swap tubes. It sounded worse so I put the og tubes back in it. All of a sudden it sounded killer and still does. No idea 🤷

Maybe weird static build up or sometimes power tubes sound better when you switch them around and/or reset them...... maybe they weren't tucked in well or something and yes clean power goes for everything.

This is why I always advise a solid PSU for pedals as this can also introduce unwanted additional noise to the noise floor inherent in any said amp this and a power source with a surge protector and basic filtering at the least...... this helps a lot especially when your going to random places to jam or play somewhere.

Something from Furman or Tripp Lite with surge protector and filtering. These things don't run a lot and fancy amp or no fancy amp a great investment and under 70 bucks.

I have 3 power conditioners. I just didn’t bother to plug it into one when I first got it. Plus I have very good power in my jam room. It’s the only amp that I noticed any difference from the wall to the power conditioner.

Right on, have had more than a few amps act funny just going to places not using a conditioner/surge protector vs when I use one.

You don't need to spend a bunch on a good one either.

YMMV but its always best to use a power conditioner/surge protector in general anywhere home or not vs just plugging into a wall IME and that always yields the best results with just about any piece of gear :dunno:
