I know the hot rod is like a suped up marshall, but does it have any slo like charecteristics? Just wondering about it.. any input is appreciated

I had both. The Hot Rod is ok at best compared to the SLO. Same overdrive circuit but sounds anemic in comparison...different transformers....and the SLO just has a bigger "clang" to the sound overall. I like Soldano's but they seem to have a funky upper Mid that I couldnt get on with.

Try Avenger. I thought SLO I tried for hours was very close to Cornford MK50h I had.
And Avenger I had for a while sounded amazingly close.
Sure there are differences. But VERY small differences. Search Cornford vs Soldano on youtube. That's my clip. You decide.

ahh...that's your clip huh??? I watched that one about 100x before deciding not to buy a Cornford. I already own an Avenger and they sounded extremely close in that comparison. Actually, I think the Avenger sounded a bit better for the most part

Ok heres part two of my question, if the SLO has a depth mod, how similar is it to the avenger?
I have only played a SLO in person (with no mods), none of the others. I played it a decently loud store volumes, but not band volumes. I loved it... just a little out of my price range at the moment. The other thing I hear is they are just a little weird in the upper mids (i did not hear this when I played it) and lack a little bit of girth needed for more modern rock. I was thinking the depth mod takes care of that?
