Another vote for a Marshallhead here. Even though not a super Strat, my 80’s Gibson V is an alder body. I haven’t even had a thought about changing it in over 10 years. Amazing balance from clean to mean. I can play anything from AC/DC to Metallica with it. Responds to volume roll off like a champ. I also like earlier Dimarzio Super Distortions. They usually measure just above 12K and are not nearly as spikey and strident as newer Super D’s. I have an early 80’s one (2 wire) in a 2005 V (Mahogany) and it isn’t going anywhere. Great Classic hard rock sound. Doesn’t have an obvious ceramic sound to it. It actually pairs well with the neck Marshallhead in that guitar.
