Angus, Angus and some more Angus shaped my squat fingers into what they are today. Throw in a little Gary Moore (metal era), lots of Tony Iommi and Fast Eddie Clarke to round out the edges. I discovered Uli late in the game but his playing with the scorps is a lesson in beautiful phrasing/vibrato.
Honorable mention to Cream era Clapton and the guy from Cactus.

I've spent time studying it, like other styles, it's just un-interesting to me. Some of the blues-influenced stuff is fine and its easy to see where it has filtered down into modern stuff/ other styles. Way back in 1981(or 2), the band I played in video taped a show we did at a high school. When I watched it, I cringed on how not only my vibrato sounded but the way it looked 
I immediately went out and looked for a video of a live band so I could watch over and over again a decent guitarist. I wound up renting a REO Speedwagon video. Gary Richrath's vibrato was so nice (I wasn't an REO fan). I would watch that video and sit in front of a mirror trying to copy how it looked for hours at a time.
Later I would listen and watch Steve Lukather (videos).
I really love Lukather, Lynch, Malmsteen vibrato. I really like Ace Frehley from Alive 1 as well.
I think anyone who can play for ten seconds and I instantly know it's them, has it in spades and it's usually because of their vibrato styles.
I'm more of a fan of wide melodic sounding vibrato. I am not a fan of quick spastic vibrato...just not my thing.
I probably worked on my vibrato more than anything else, I guess that's why my note choices usually suck..lol.

Not long ago I was watching the Kiss DVD box set (the black one). I was at the Cobo hall show for the Destroyer tour. My Dad took me. The show is on the DVD. It freaked me out how much I play like Ace. I had not heard any of that stuff for years. I became a fan again. The only time I was in the army - I was in the Kiss Army. The hooks on the first album are killer and I do not think I would be playing the guitar if it was not for Gene Simmons breathing fire and what not.
