Whether it be an amp/guitar, etc. What does it matter to you.

As long as it’s priced accordingly that’s all good.

Full disclosure and priced accordingly would be the respectable approach guitar and amplifier companies should follow IMO.

Totally agree.

Yep. I don't really care if it's MiC or MiI or whatever as long as the price reflects that. Don't make a guitar in China then charge me MiK or MiA prices.

I'm old school and matters quite a bit to me. I'm not saying I'd never buy a guitar from China but I just don't see it happening. Just seems like an assembly line where any product could be swapped out. Just my opinion though.

I don't like a lot of the guitars in the US being priced so high but unfortunately that is where we are at. I do like the guitars made in Japan and Mexico and even have had some South Korean guitars I've really liked (LTD).

Doesn't everything sold in the US have to have a country of origin label on it? Unless those labels are inaccurate, I think there is full disclosure. I've bought plenty of total junk made in the USA and some good stuff made in Asia. Just gotta know what you're buying, read the reviews and know the marketplace and competition.

It really comes down to quality. I prefer buying American made to support smaller businesses but its not a deal breaker. My guitars are made in Indo, and I have a Ceriatone 2204 that Im happy with. I dont want to pay $4k for an amp no matter where its made. Nothing against high end amps they are just way out of my comfort zone for my purposes. I would rather pay Splawn 2k than buy a Friedman for 3800. Just dont see/hear and 1800 improvement with my current level of playing ability and where I play.

The country of origin doesn’t matter to me. What matters is quality and attention to the details. And it’s company specific. Each company setup a model so folks would know their quality/price spectrum.

The normal pecking order that most companies setup are:
Top quality- made it manufactures home country mostly by hand (USA, Japan, etc...)
Next tier- made by skilled people doing some hand work. This is usually Korea, Mexico or Japan
Lowest tier - entry level, Mass produced products made in Indonesia, China, etc...

So it only matters to me if a company tries to pass anything off as the top quality gear when it’s actually the Next tier. Meaning fooling people by saying this was made in our USA facility so customers think it’s top tier quality when it is not.

In general, I'm dubious of Indonesian or Chinese made guitars, but if I find a good one, it wouldn't stop me.

I'm OK with Chinese made amps as long as they're priced accordingly, as mentioned.

Up front about it matters to me the most. I got to go to Balaguer HQ late December, got to try out a lot of their guitars and chat with the owner. They're pretty up front about their custom stuff being made in Korea. What I didn't know is that they apparently have a small team of luthiers dedicated only to their custom stuff. After talking to the owner for a while, and going over the pricing and options, I bought a custom guitar that night. If he wasn't up front about all of it I wouldn't have felt comfortable about it. I don't even have my guitar yet and I want to order another custom one just from the awesome customer service and honesty.

I remember back in the day when Korean guitars were not that great. I was stationed in Korea in the early 90s and things were not made that well back then. Years later I played some LTD guitars and was blown away. One of the best guitars I ever played in my life was an LTD.

Japanese guitars are still good but man they used to be amazing. My buddy had a Fender Squier made in Japan that played and sounded awesome.

No one manufactures gear in China with the intent to put out the best version of their product. It's for corner cutting and profit maximizing

The poll won't let me tick all the options that best describe how I feel.

Overall 'though it matters to me for many reasons.

EDIT:
OK, I picked 3 and it allowed that. Had about 6 before...

I thought three was a decent number.

VERY true.

I am shocked by a lot of what was MIK that went to Indonesia.

I refuse to own an Indonesian instrument.

Actually ATM I am mostly all USA orJapan. Two MIK and three MIM. ZERO China or Indo here. And there won't be tbh.

Fair-enough, mate.

Yeah, I try to avoid Chinese stuff by-default. Preferences are USA, Japan and Germany.
