How to change pups in the newer Gibby LP's?

I am looking to change pups in my 2013 LP standard with the computer chip board.
Can I just unhook the old wires from the plastic "insert" piece and put the new pup wires in the "insert", reconnect and be all set?

For reference here's a link to the same pups that are for sale with the board "insert" piece still attached/: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=152949

Thanks for any help.

I didn't even realize they had those on Gibsons. I thought that was only an EMG thing.

I'm not sure if you can or not; buddy of mine just ripped everything out and went with regular pots and caps. Not sure why, but I think it had something to do with those inserts.

It won't work that easily. I have a 2013 LP Std Plus, and I was PISSED when I found that god damn PC board in the control cavity. You can't just take the ends off the pickup leads and plug in new pickups, you have to re-crimp the new connector on with new ends. Once you pull the old wires out the connector is hosed. Most pup manufactures use different color codes too. Plus I think the stock pots that come in that guitar are shit anyway…..They made it a real fucking pain in the ass to put new pickups in. I almost returned the guitar to Sweetwater because of that. You can tell thinking about this again is like rubbing salt into a wound.

I bought a brand new harness from Martin Six String Customs and dropped in SD Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups in it. Those burst buckers are mine obviously.

Can't you just cut and rejoin the wires, with some heatshrink? Might not be the most graceful but it'll work, and if it's not a CS who's really gonna care anyway?..

If you ID which wires go where you can cut and splice. However I'd probably yank the entire mess out and go with what I know, pots and caps.

Step 1: start by ripping out the PCB entirely.
Step 2: purchase pickups that have either 2 or 4 conductor wiring (if you want to coil tap)
Step 3: 50's wire and solder to pots

boom...done :)
Serious answer you need molex connectors if using PCB.

You can buy the molex connector and pins from mouser and put them on any pickup you want. Easy

There you go. You will kill your resale if you tear it out unless you can return t to stock perfecty.

i assume those BB pros are 4 conductor, correct?
So I'll need to get a 4 conductor pup and attach to the molex connector

When I stuck Seth Lovers in my SG Standard, I just put new molex ends on them and plugged them in. I was afraid the bridge might be too bright anyways, so it worked out keeping the 300k tone pots in there. I still have to turn them down to 7-8 at times, so I don't think I'm missing anything. Sounds great and super-easy.

This will be of no help...

But two phrases of advice:
"Reissues" & "Vintage/Collectors"

I tried this, but the connectors they used for the four conductor pickups were tiny and a nightmare to deal with, so I gave up, replaced all the electronics from scratch, and sold the old pickups+wiring as a complete set.

I don't buy that. Who cares whether a new LP has the board or pots and caps? It's not like you're talking about some sort of museum piece. You already took out the original pickups, anyone who would care about that stuff would want the guitar unmolested, not just returned to original. Very small percentage of buyers.

That too. Standards aren't exactly collectible or anything, and Burstbuckers Pros are terrible so I'm sure there are enough buyers that will prefer regular pots and wiring anyway.
