After the initial thoughts of sympathy for those who's property has been damaged, it pains me to know most of these trees will go into a chipper. Some nice wood right there.

Anyone heard from Brad yet?
I just checked his profile. He was last logged in at 9 this morning. Hopefully the storm missed him.

Cyberstalker!

I really cant express how lucky I feel after this storm. My entire family is fine, very little damage to our homes, and some of us have power back on. The devastation at the shore is incredible. As daneyo said some of my favrorite spots are gone. Entire neighborhoods have been washed away. I have friends in Union beach and Hazlet. They are OK but they've lost everything, one lost their home.

I work for PSE&G and I can say the effort underway to restore power is unpresidented in this state. We have everyone working round the clock and over 2000 out of state line crews and tree crews out there working. As I write this we've managed to restore 50% of our customers. That leaves 700,000 residents left to restore. That number represents what we dealt with last year with Hurricane Irene. Sandy has been 100% worse in terms of electric distribution damage. I'm not even counting the lives lost or property damage incurred.

It's crazy out here. People are starting to return to work, attempt to fuel cars, gas cans, and just plain get out of the house. Traffic is becoming a big issue and heated tempers are getting worse. I had to call local police today to keep an angry resident out of the material staging area I am running. I understand his frustration believe me I do but when you hear reports of stabings and fights I'm not taking a chance...

I'm confident the shore will be rebuilt, but this summer will be very strange without all the shore had to offer gone...

Dam..
We send 400 of our power guys/fully loaded trucks up to help you guys in Jersey, and they got sent home because they are not union??
Really??
Who the hell did that?
I'd have his f'in head on a platter :gethim:

My thoughts and Prayers go out to everyone effected !

Good to hear from you Greg. I know this doesn't matter much but there's at least 5 clubs/bars that I played in over the years that I know have been hit hard or are gone. My brother used to live in Union Beach and I have some friends still there and that town got demolished. It's right across the Raritan bay from the areas of Staten Island that got destroyed. I think the water piled up in the bay and had nowhere to go and flattened everything.

I got GAS today for my car but I drove down to Bordentown to get it. That's taking Turnpike to route 195 to route 130. Go South on 130 and you WILL find gas with short lines and they take credit cards. I'd rather drive an hour to get gas than wait in line for 2 hours.

And the NYC Marathon was cancelled.

Anyone hear from Ralphie aka Gainfreak?

Talked to Ralphie on FB. He's good. Emailed Brad to check on him. He's good too.

Good thing that NYC cancelled the marathon. That would have been in poor taste. Knee-capping would have been in play.

Marathon has been canceled. And I just read that barrier Island's in NJ have been ordered evacuated for up to 8 months!

The towns affected are Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, island sections of Berkeley Township, South Seaside Park, Lavallette, Ortley Beach and Mantoloking.

Not true. Don't know how or why this rumor started and don't care. It's simply not true.

Are hurricane and flood insurance required in the area, Danny, for seaside homes or low elevations? I remember when I bought a house in Louisiana, in order to finance a home, anything below 14' elevation had to carry the flood insurance. Anyway, hope all those folks are insured in the areas to be evacuated. That is a long time. Is FEMA up there assisting like they were around New Orleans?
