I think we have to separate a " hook" from " pop" ..Is it light for it's genre or just melodic? Is it Madonna in 1985? No. Madonna was pop. MJ was pop.

I'm looking at it from a lyrical standpoint. I'd call it Yngwies first "love song". To me that's what makes it poppy. But no it's definitely not Madonna level poppy

I can see that some but compared to later it’s no so overdone. It still heavy some
