So, How did you guys like Mark's Remix
I liked the initial clip and the remix. I liked Marks first CCV video better than this one however I can hear the Marshall karrang I love in all the CCV videos. After reading Dave's initial draft of the manual I think the versatility of the amp is even better than I had anticipated. I am guessing this is one of a few amps out there that I think would be perfect for me personally. Right now and this is my opinion only but for the modified Marshall type tones I think you cannot beat:
Cameron Modified Amps or the CCV
Anything Fortin modified
Anything Friedman modified
The brian on the forums stuff sounds great
The PT100 from Suhr
Wizard Modern Classic
All great options with slight variations and up to the player to pick which one he wants. I think any of us could be satisfied with any of these amps and just focus on playing and working towards our musical goals. So much drama over all the different camps, ownership comes with a price I guess.
I even think the Axe FX has a place in all of this. It sounds great and the effects and routing is wonderful. I have owned the PT100 and Wizard and I will say this one statement and I believe it will hold true with the Axe FX II as well. When in a room standing in front of a Wizard Modern Classic or PT100 and most likely any of the other amps up there I feel this ooooomph, percussive movement of sound/tone that just does it for me. The Axe FX can get the same tones, even feel close to the amps. But the little something that in the room does for me personally the Axe FX has not ever done.
I over answered your question, and probably will start another shit storm because of small things said here. Seems to be par for the course lately.
To conclude, the CCV Clip and remix clip was fine to my ears. Mark Day is a great player and seems like a cool/great person. He did a great job on the clip and wanted to do even better, and all this with being rushed. Mark has now done three clips of the CCV that i know of and I think they all sound excellent. Mark has also gotten better with his playing over the last year, or more comfortable making clips from what I can see. I enjoy his playing, his fun faces which shows he loves what he does and that is more important than most any other variable there is. He has put up with a lot in this thread alone. I envy him and his talent for playing guitar and recording. I am glad Brad and company picked him up to continue with Tone Merchant demos and hope his move goes well, and wish him the very best.
