Confession - I'm team PRS. I'm all in. I live an hour away from the PRS factory. I fly the flag. I know people who work there and have met Paul Smith and Jack Higginbotham several times. So it's a huge bummer for me to get my second consecutive PRS SE with a major wiring problem. The first one had a volume pot that wouldn't turn the pickup all the way down, this one has a 5-way switch that is wired backwards. So maybe the electronics team at CorTek needs more attention?
"Other than that, how was the play, Mr. Lincoln?"
Other than that, these guitars have been perfect in every single way. My first PRS SE was the NFS3 and it was so perfect and glorious that I almost bought it. So, I take this as a glitch that will get fixed and I did also contact the folks at PRS. This PRS SE Special Semi Hollow is so beautiful and really does deliver a level of elegance, playability and tone. We just need to work on those folks who wield the soldering irons.
Have a great weekend and "Celebrate Mediocrity" with me!

Eh, not to egregious, IMO. My ‘97 MIJ Ibanez JEM came out of the plastic it shipped in with the middle pickup not functioning at all and that was $1750 back in ‘97. The SE’s are killer guitars to the point I didn’t have to do anything when I got my semi-hollow a few years back but put my preferred strings on, though I did later switch the guts to Mad Hatter solderless stuff with a push/push for the split coils.

If a company can sell me a well constructed guitar for under $1500, I’m fine replacing some electronics. I do on most of my guitars anyway.

I’m not sure that Coretek plant can be run any tighter than they currently do. I know those SE’s get setup and final QC is done in Maryland, ya probably just got a Friday at 4:45PM guitar.

I ended up selling it because once I got my Strats I never picked it up, but I sold it to my best friend so I could play it whenever I go back up to New England.

I may be the minority here, but their World Music Korean SE's were better quality. I picked up an SE 594 when they came out, and couldn't return it fast enough. Fretwork was atrocious, and electronics were fucked up. It was a total turd, and I said never again. S2 or Core for me, the Indonesian guitars are very inconsistent/hit/miss.

I really liked what came out of there as well. The new NFS3 was killer though

You're welcome, soy boi
You are worse at insults than you are at youtube videos. The trick is to mix a little truth.

Calling a powerlifter a soy boi is like me calling you a man's man. I will help you. "Look at Smash. His dick is so fat... If he leans forward, he can just stand up like a tripod."

Realistically, you making soy faces on your thumbnails and then calling someone else a soy boi is simply projecting.

Like if we were to have a dicksucking competition, we know you would win. I think you should stick to things you do well...I am just really drawing a blank..being a sellout. Self deprecation. Fuck man, I dont know what you are good at. But i would love to meet you in person. I have a feeling that alligator mouth would close pretty quick

I feel like the SEs are fine for what they are - which is a PRS shaped Cortech guitar

They don't really feel or play like a PRS though, which, even the cheaper S2 or bolt on american ones do

I've never played one i've been really impressed with, but I've heard the Mikael Akerfelt ones are specced out really well. Idk, just something I would probably never spend money on, because at the level they get decent you can get much more bang for your buck imo.

For the price of a mark holcomb SE (let alone the ridiculous herman li ones that are 2k) you can find a bunch of stuff that's simply better. EII, find a nice gibson USA, etc

I guess it just ends up in a no man's land price to value-wise.
