I know this is not 100% Diezel related, but it does have to do with a Diezel. So please hear me out on this.

Alright so I am in the process of starting my band, I am playing through a VH4 and my other guitarist has yet to purchase his actual amp for the band. We would like to try and get him something that will sound good while working with my VH4, but will not be too costly.

So far I had in mind like a Mesa Dual Rectifier or a peavey 6505.

We would like too keep it in the price range of like under $2,000

He will be using a 4x12 cab also.

Or influences include bands like Dir en grey, Tool, Korn, Deftones..etc... ( as a reference for our sound )

I really do like the rectifier. The two reasons we won't go with a second Diezel is because he doesn't have the funds and we want completely different yet complimenting tones ( if that makes sense )

The other guitar player in my band has a 6505+ and it compliments the VH4 very well: the Diezel has the huge but focused bottom end thump and the smooth gain on Channel 3, the 6505+ is really cutting, almost fizzy, and brutal. They work together well!

Now I may be completely retarded for asking this, but what does Rev. F/G mean?

The rev F/G are basically the old 2 channel recto's. De Rev C/D (often referred as pre-500) are considered as the holy grail recto's. Superb gain structures and no need for tubescreamers with these. Cleans are Horrible. On Rev F/G, if I'm correct, cleans are slightly beter. Wasn't Korn's first album based on recto's?

What would the tube screamer do for a recto?

Well basically an TS9 tightens up the recto. I have had the 3 channel recto also and this one really needed an tubescreamer for tight death metal sound. I used a Digitech Bad monkey for that (gain at zero, tone/bass at noon and level at max). It's almost impossble to get that ultra thick chuncky sound on a 3ch recto without some sort of boost. But again the old 2 channels are a different story.

But we are on the diezel forum and not for no reason. I have an Einstein 50watt and this little devil can do some sick metal tones without an boost. But I have to admit I love tubescreamers just for the boost. So I lower the gain and add a boost. For now I use a T-rex MAD on my Einstein.

Smashing Pumpkins had good luck with a Randall RM100 with the modules mixing with Billy's Herbert.
A decent alternative to a Recto.

I really love my Mako MAK2 so I would recommend that, but I do not know how it will suit Herbert. I drive it simultaneously with VH4 and it works great. I really love the sound and feel of that amp...or actually both of them...but different way.

V. - Do you know how Juggernaut's Mako is modded? (just curious, as I have no idea why someone finds a need to mod his/her Mako)

You might consider ENGL invader. One of the best Engl amps for rock/metal with midi and 4 preamps with own EQ. Sound fantastic but in the US might be hard to find and/or expensive. Anyway, like the Diezel, you will experience German top quality with an Engl!

I'm not entirely sure at all as to what was done to it [Jugger's Makoplex]. Just saw some/heard some clips and it sounded ferocious. I find the Mako line up, Mak4 fanboi here, to be totally underrated and probably one of the finest sounding rigs out there. Unique and distinct, but really open and able to cover a shitload of ground. It's a brillinat bit of kit.

Nevertheless, as to the OP, I suppose work with whatever can be worked with:
5150, 6505, Mark 3-5, modded Marshalls, stock Marshalls, Bogner Shiva [potentially], and soooooo many others.
