What's even worse...
I called paypal and got the supervisor real pist enough to get answers out of her. But basically, my account's in negative and will stay that way till I pay them back. EVEN if I got law enforcement in this and CAUGHT the guy, PROVING that i'm in the right, and that their decision to reverse the transaction was WRONG, and recovered the funds, my account will STAY negative till I get the funds and PAY THEM BACK. they won't even admit they're in the wrong and can't reverse what they've done...

THIS JUST IN:

The other victim I met up with was contacted by another ebayer who just sold his comp to this fuckin scammer!!!!!! We're in communication with him now, hoping that he hasn't MET the scammer yet so that we can get a cop and arrest the fucker ON SITE!!!!!

That'll be awesome.

If the cops aren't willing to come, you should all just show up, take him somewhere, and demand the cash and/or beat the shit out of him.

Paypal sucks. I only use it for credit card transactions.

I'm sorry to hear it. Really! I'm still waiting for something I bought and, even though I tried throughout the transaction to pay direct from my bank account, it ended up going through Pay Pal.

Interesting, though, that the Cops can't be bothered. Pretty much the same story you'll get whether you've been ripped-off, robbed or burglarized. "Oh well, we'll do what we can, but don't expect much..."

Now, if you knew the guy who ripped you off had some Marijuana, even just a joint or two, that would be a different story. Man, they would have the Narcotics Task Force, SWAT and every Mother F*cking Cop in the district there to bust the guy!

Now your thinking  There isn't a dude on this forum that would not love to be there to take only one punch on this ripoff :gethim:

Or even worse, if the cops you called found, uh, your *stuff*

I use paypal but have never had any problems but then again, I'm sure I've not bought/traded/sold half as much as you guys.

I hope you catch that little fucker :gethim:

I'm in the middle of it with PayPal too. I sold some parts in an auction and the buyer claimed that they were damaged- which they were not. PP refunds $200 of the transaction back and puts my account on hold. I went to my bank and put a transaction hold on any further activity with PP. However, PP will turn your information over to a collection agency, who will inturn report you to a credit agency. Total BS. by the way, when the buyer filed the claim, and I was ruled against, I was never given the chance to have my side of the story heard. I am done with PP.

Pretty much the same senerio with me. Did Paypal send you an email survey after they ruled? I got one yesterday and I had fun filling it out :uzi:

No... they haven't sent me anything. I wish they would. I'd have fun filling it out.

Ok guys
so I finally filed the report and the copper told me that they can't arrest the guy on site, cause apparently, he has rights or something. So unless the third potential victim can somehow stall him and call the cops to come without forcing the suspect to stay, then they can take him in. or some shit like that.
Either way, I've done my part, i'm still out $$$ and now I have to look into small claims court to go up against paypal. What a drag...

That does suck man, but it's good that your doing shit about it rather then just moaning at letting it go, more power to you

another ebayer has been scammed (this would be the fourth) i believe but fortunately this guy was able to get a photocopy of the suspect's driver license and phone number!!!! Though both may be fake, it's gettin somewhere!!!

Why wouldn't you insist on a cash transaction, if it's an in-person deal?

to answer your question briefly, I figured $2000usd would be a lot in cash so for the buyer's sake (aka me being too generous) i accepted paypal.

However, I'm trying not to reflect right now, cause I already KNOW all this and I need to focus on getting this fucker as opposed to wasting my time kicking myself! Fuck reflection!!

Keep us informed man.

that sucks. Hopefully you get it sorted out. Our credit cards had some unauthorised payments recently, luckily we're covered, but it's not a nice feeling.

From everything i hear, paypal sucks whenever anything goes wrong- they sound much more concerned with covering their own losses than actually providing any customer service. Never bought/sold anything on ebay, and this isn't exactly making me want to start...
