I just installed two new 2024/25 production UK made Vintage 30's...

I just looked up V30 on Zzounds.
They say,
"International LTD"

Ive got a set from 2006 that are well broken in and sound good in my mills cab is since swapped them out for a set of 2022s at 8ohm that sound even better. Ordered a set of 2024s in both 8 and 16ohm to try. All built between March and December of 2024.
Hey mate, have you ever opened/taken a pic of the internals of the Mills? Could I request one next time during the speaker swap?

Here are some shots of the baffles and the original wiring which was 16ohm series parallel. Ive since switched it to 8 ohm mono series parallel. I honestly cant remember, but it definitely measures 8ohms lol

Thanks mate! Overall a pretty simple design given how much people used to pump up the afterburner cab. I’ll consider this when I build my own next super-sized 4x12.

Back to the topic, I ordered x2 V30s from TubeAmpDoctor when TheOtherJohnBrowne and SonicDriveStudios vids came out. I received KK25’s which are the same as the Glen Fricker ones, which supposedly are made October 25th, 2024.

After much tonal scrutiny I think I'm putting my MIC V30's back in my cab. There's something about them that just feels better to me, very slightly. Not that these new UK V30's sound bad, they don't. Could just be the break in??

I need to try mine a bit more, but I found them a bit too dark compared to my fave early 2000s ones (and the new ones are 16 ohm rather than 8). Not a bad sound, just side by side I preferred the slightly crisper older ones.

They are really dark, aren't they?? Maybe a bit too dark sounding. Mine are 8 ohms so they're probably even darker than your 16 ohm speakers.

I think the always amazing Other Jon Browne's video captures it super well.

As soon as I hear the 2000 v30 it sounds much better to me.

Totally just a matter of taste/amp/etc though.

Ya, that one sounds the most balanced to my ears. The 2019 one sounds terrible.

I don't believe any Celestions are made in China anymore? During Covid, Celestion produced everything back in England....most reported new Celestions sounding much better than before.
I got some Chinese V30's dated to Dec 2021. I think this was a recent thing to move the production of the V30 to the UK. I got some regular V30's from march 2024 that are from the UK, so I'm betting the beginning of 2024. Anyone have regular V30's from the UK that are older than that? Ones that say celestion international Ltd on the back?

They were moved back in 2024. Maybe end of 2023? I have a March 2024 build on a 16ohm, so it was at the very latest early 2024. Haven't put them in yet to test against my 2022. My 2006 is both darker and harsher than the 2022 though. Granted theyre in different cabs and the 2022s are 8ohm so it isn't exacty scientific

I've got a pair of march 2024 UK V30's as well, they're 8 ohms. Very smooth sounding, very much like my MIC dec 2021 V30's.

Im excited to load them up. Going to mic the cabs with an SM57 and JZ V11 to grab a few IRs to A/B. My 4x12 is currently 8ohm with the 2022 V30s in an X pattern with neo creams. The creams are a little quiet with the 3db difference so ill pull them for the V30s and figure out which set I like. I may end up keeping the 2022 and 2024 V30s in there. I really like the neo creams but the perceived volume difference makes the cab seem a bit off.

I loaded my second cab with these new V30’s today. Same cab as my primary. So the cabs are identical. I A/B’d both quads of V30’s.

I don’t love them. Compared to my 90’s UK V30’s, they are much more stuffy in the low midrange. Not balanced sounding like the 90’s. The new ones have more low end because of the low mids. But you cannot dial it out with the bass control. It’s a frequency that sits between the bass and mid controls. You’d need an eq to dial it out. I won’t be changing out my 90’s V30’s.

Granted these new ones aren’t broken in. But that’s my experience.

I did try the new ones in my workshop and they sound really good in there. That room is insanely bright because there’s so many hard surfaces. They seemed to balance out there and the mids grind hard. So they need a brighter environment to sound the best. I’ll likely leave them in my workbench cab for now.

I had some 16 ohm ‘93 UK V30’s and they had a boxy thing going on in the mids. My ‘06 Mesa spec T4416’s don’t have it.

Mesa spec is the only way to be sure. Accept no substitutes.

Gotta disagree with you there. I've got regular UK and Chinese made V30's that sound just as good as my Mesa V30's. But the differences are usually quite small.

My 90’s v30’s are the antithesis of boxy. The mids are smooth and balanced. Almost scooped. Very pleasant. I would never call them boxy.

I had a Mesa Tradituonal 412 with v30’s. Didn’t care for those compared to my 90’s v30’s.
