Link to these peter and peter vids? Please no porn.

Jim... they are also on YouTube. Search "Diezel Herbert or VH4"

The ones you did from the ampfest with the VH4 and Herbert still kill btw.

Lol at the "please no porn" part. I can only imagine. :)

I have the herbert and dmoll. Hope to keep them forever. Loves me some Diezel tone!

How different are they? If i LOVE dmoll do I HAVE to try herbert or does it just add the headroom and punch of the higher wattage?

You most definitely need to try a Herbert. It is that good.

Damn...

No, there definitely is a slightly fuzzy thing going on in some of the diezels. That's playing at loud volume next to a LOT of other high gainers, back to back and through many different speaker cabs. It's not a bad thing but it's there. I can hear it in Peters' new Hagen demo vid. The VH4 has the least of it to my ears. Big Diezel fan here btw. :)

Had a Herbert and Einstien got to say beyond the killer tone and build quality Diezels customer service is amazing .

I own a herbert and also owned a couple vh4 and a einstein, ive played the hagen but my favorite of those amps is the herbert and the vh4.
i would like to get another vh4 sometime this year. i agree with what others have said about the build quality being awesome.

i dont really find diezels to be fuzzy, but i think maybe what people are hearing is a sizzle in the thick layers of gain that ive noticed isnt really something that can be dialed out because of the way these amps are made and designed, its hard for me to describe how i hear it, some amps distortion sounds thin to me and other amps like the diezels sounds like a thicker distortion and im not really talking about the lows and bass in the amp but in the gain itself, the way i hear these amps is a thick layer of gain with compression and a little sizzle in the gain on the top end, to be honest i cant even describe how i hear it lol, somebody will prob read what i wrote and be confused or have no idea what im talking about haha.

Agree. There are a few videos online that make the VH4 sound terrible. Really direct mic setup, recording an amp that, on its own, is absolutely dry and unforgiving. I can see why people give it a hard time and double take at the price tag. That premier guitar demo of the VH4 is especially shocking.
Paired with the usual suspect pedals, I made mine absolutely scream. Turn them off and it sounded pretty hifi and non descript by contrast. Tough sell when a 5150 can wail on its own at a fraction of the price.

Ab'd directly. They are very different to me. I sold my dmoll and came home with a Herbert. But I like kick you in the face bend you over backward metal brootz. To each they're own

Had an Einstein, then a Hagen, sold the Hagen and got me the VH4. Kept the VH4 and got the Hagen again :D Have other amps but the Diezels are those that get the most use. They record amazingly and always cause great impression in live gigs. As for the fuzzy some mention, sorry but have never experienced that even after recording a lot with the VH4 and the Hagen. Maybe cab, pickups or mic placement?

I also noticed something about the VH4 I had . I think it could be what you guys are describing as "fuzzy" . I actually didn't notice it until I used it in a large room where I could stand far back from my cab . Playing at home I didn't notice it.

To my ears it was like some of the distortion was coming from the poweramp and not all from the preamp, almost like a more oldschool crunch mixed in with that modern high gain hi-fi tone we think of from a diezel. Anyways it was why I ended up not keeping the VH4 but with that being said I was blown away by it at home so it was a strange experience.

I know what you mean. The sort of 'congested sag' without losing the tightness.

Most Engls that I've played don't have that. The 4th channel of my Invader has some of it, but it's way looser sounding anyway and almost does that singing Santana-lead thing.

I've listened to most of the Peter-Peter Diezel demo's on good studio headphones (Beyer DT990 Pro, 250 Ohm) and I can hear that even in the Paul, which surprised me. It kept me from getting a used D-Moll too when I played it.

Come to think of it, I believe all my Diezel experiences were on V30 cabs.
Can anyone confirm if the Diezels have that 'effect' less when using K100 cabs?

I threw a pair of G12-K85 (forerunners of the K100) in my Engl 4x12" Pro V30 cab and those speakers provided a bit more character and midrange crunch, without a bitey high-mid or high-end.
Channel 2 benefited from this.

I know exactly what you're talking about, though I wouldn't call it "fuzzy," but there is something a bit indistinct in the low end. I've noticed it mostly on the D-Moll. The problem comes from a couple of things. First, the D-Moll is 100w, and just because it's a bit smaller and cheaper than other Diezels, it's a loud amp. It needs some amount of volume. Second, you have to use the mid-scoop on the D-Moll to get a decent tone at lower volumes. For some reason, I can't seem to find an effective use for the resonance control unless the D-Moll is louder than nighttime bedroom volume. I pretty much leave the resonance off, turn the bass down, then use the mid-scoop knob. For some reason, the mid-scoop control seems to be more of a mid-shift control, but when it's engaged, it helps a lot at lower volumes. When I turned the D-Moll up a bit, like a TV at Superbowl time, then it's pretty tight and more focused in the low end.

Hagen is killer, got a new one this week. Hard to beat a loud 100w amp with 4 channels of killer tones. If you like to run amps loud it's hard to be a well designed amp...not these BS kit amps that sell for $3699 that are only good at bedroom volumes, or quiet gig levels.

*cough*Friedman*cough*

I've owned them all, try dining a Friedman and see what happens. I had a Bogner 40w Telos for a bit...was as loud as a Friedman cranked...The Telos wasn't even up all the way.

I've never played any of the other Friedmans but the butterslax is the loudest amp
I've played until I got the Herbert, but it's still damn loud and sounds good loud.
