My favorite band is Tool obviously, but man Karnivool is a close second. I love killer prog rock grooves like this. What other bands should I look into?

There are a pile of bands from the last ambient/djent type genre but most of them are pretty stale to me and don't have the depth, intrigue or songwriting abilities of Karnivool. No fancy gear-they used Peaveys, Marshall JCM800s/900s and Boss GT3 floorboards and the tones are perfect for what they do.
Tesseract is probably the only other band that does the Tool/Karnivool thing for me but they're a distant third place and maybe a bit more similar to Periphery. They definitely have the Karnivool vibe going on at times though. Check out the album Polaris and the most recent, Sonder.
BTW, the latest A Perfect Circle album is solid and I've heard that Rishloo have a good Tool vibe going but I haven't really given them a chance yet.

Listening now. First song (KingGood groove. Definitely reminds me of Karnivool. Vocals are interesting. Not liking the screaming at first, but it's not as bad as some other bands and at least it's got some melody. The quieter parts kind of remind of Puscifer in a way. Overall, I will give this band a chance. Thanks for the recommendation!
Second song (TourniquetAnother Puscifer kind of vibe at first. I like it. More singing/melody than King. The end reminds me of All I Know, by Karnivool. I dig the groove.
Looked into Rishloo. Listening to the song, "Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun." Melody reminds me of Guster. Guitar work sounds like Tool. Composition is like a heavy Queen or maybe some Muse. This is cool. Looked into their album Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth and it sounds like Mars Volta and Queen and Bowie and a bit of Tool had a mutant love child.
Glassjaw7 is my hero lol

It's got some similarities to Karnivool, but maybe with a little less of the Tool vibe. They are a little more on the rock than metal side, IMO. I prefer Karnivool, but I saw these guys in Minneapolis recently and it was a pretty good show.
Hopefully we see the new Karnivool album SOON.
[50 edits later... Some of Leprous older stuff might be a bit heavier. I'm only familiar with their newer stuff. Skipping through some stuff on YouTube though it sounds heavier, while still sounding like what they do now. Comments seem to suggest Tall Poppy Syndrome and Bilateral as their best albums.]
