^^^^ That's a bit too Dream Theater for me. Talented for sure, but compared to Karnivool, not really in the same bucket. I guess I gravitate to stuff that's more modern and dark and has more of a groove.

Probably my fave vool tune.

Sound Awake is my favorite album to come out in the last decade. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) there aren't many other bands that do it like them. There are a pile of bands from the last ambient/djent type genre but most of them are pretty stale to me and don't have the depth, intrigue or songwriting abilities of Karnivool. No fancy gear-they used Peaveys, Marshall JCM800s/900s and Boss GT3 floorboards and the tones are perfect for what they do.

Tesseract is probably the only other band that does the Tool/Karnivool thing for me but they're a distant third place and maybe a bit more similar to Periphery. They definitely have the Karnivool vibe going on at times though. Check out the album Polaris and the most recent, Sonder.

BTW, the latest A Perfect Circle album is solid and I've heard that Rishloo have a good Tool vibe going but I haven't really given them a chance yet.

Listening now. First song (King): Good groove. Definitely reminds me of Karnivool. Vocals are interesting. Not liking the screaming at first, but it's not as bad as some other bands and at least it's got some melody. The quieter parts kind of remind of Puscifer in a way. Overall, I will give this band a chance. Thanks for the recommendation!

Second song (Tourniquet): Another Puscifer kind of vibe at first. I like it. More singing/melody than King. The end reminds me of All I Know, by Karnivool. I dig the groove.

Looked into Rishloo. Listening to the song, "Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun." Melody reminds me of Guster. Guitar work sounds like Tool. Composition is like a heavy Queen or maybe some Muse. This is cool. Looked into their album Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth and it sounds like Mars Volta and Queen and Bowie and a bit of Tool had a mutant love child.

Glassjaw7 is my hero lol

Acle (one of the guitarists) used to hang out and post clips quite a bit at the old HCAF. He was a good guy and player.

My band. We just pushed our other song 50 Shades of Crazy to 139+ radio stations and more. Here's the more "progressive" song.
