I now have a new amp... [Diezel D-Moll]

So I ended up with a D-Moll!

I need a new amp. This is my band:

As you can hear, quite a wide variety of tones. Not much usage in the way of the volume knob, but I pretty much need three channels minimum. I recorded that album with a Fryette Sig X, which I later sold due to issues with the company and the UK distributor. I kinda miss it, and they're quite hard to come by now. I was using a Marshall JVMJS, but it wasn't giving me what I wanted - too fuzzy, not tight or refined enough. I've got an EVH5150III 50-watt right now, and it is good, but the channel 1/2 volume issue pisses me off. I also have a Laney Ironheart 120IRT. It isn't really cutting the mustard, and I'm not bonding with it in the same way I have other amps in the past.

In the past I have owned a Laney VH100R, a Mesa Boogie Rectoverb, an Orange Rockerverb 100 MKI, an Orange Dual Terror (which didn't cut it for clean tones) - out of those, the Laney VH100R was the nicest fit. I actually sold that to our other guitarist!!

At the same time, I am quite curious about going digital. The Axe FX and Kemper do hold my interest, but since I only need 3 or 4 channels (or sounds) they might just be overkill.

Should I go back to the Fryette Sig X, or checkout something else? Any recommendations? Budget is about £1200 or $2000. Amp must be available in the UK or EU. Just looking for some ideas really.

I just landed a used DMoll and it sounds soooo good. :thumbsup:

I don't know about an amp other than I've had all the amps mentioned on in this thread and I really like my 51503 50 watt and with a PD HD500 it fixes the volume issue and with a couple of pedals it's as versatile as I'd ever want.

That said I really like your band! I hear a little Oceansize and Amplifier flavor which always good in my book. Very very cool!

What's funny is while watching your video, I was thinking, "he could totally grab all those tones with a Fryette Ultra Lead!" Then I read your post where you said it was a Fryette Sig X lol! I obviously would return to Fryette, but if you're dead set against it, I could hear a Mark 5 coming pretty close to what you're looking for.
 
if you decide to play around with going direct, try the eleven rack....you'll thank me later. less money and it still has the meat and potatoes good tone. if you need wacky effects then the axe-fx II is the way to go. i just sold my axe-fx II and the eleven rack is perfect for me, because i really only use 2-3 sounds (like yourself).
 
Hey peeps, thanks for the comments!

Not averse to going back to Fryette, but they no longer have a UK distributor, so they're going to be pretty difficult to get over here I suspect. Also there is that whole "moving forward rather than back" thing that I have to contend with! :doh:

The D-Moll sounds pretty cool. I wonder how much of a problem it is to have the shared EQ for channels 2 and 3. For medium crunch tones, I usually kill some of the mids, but for high-gain tones I tend to crank them a fair amount. I guess the mid-scoop could be used just on channel 2??

The XTC looks pretty cool. Same sort of situation though; finding one is going to be a bit difficult!

If I was to go digital, I'd still want to go into a guitar cab rather than direct to FOH or FRFR. The Eleven Rack does get a lot of positive comments, but does it have preamp only models?

Mark V is significantly out of my budget, and as much as I like the amp (having heard one being demoed at volume in a shop) I couldn't justify paying Mesa's UK prices.
 
Ahhhh.. looking at the D-Moll... it isn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be! £1400 from Thomann basically.
 
Well since you're in the UK my first thought was Victory amps.
Andertons sell them.

Woops just saw your budget.

The V100 would be the one to grab if you could swing the cash however.
Unless there was a second hand one floating around.

They don't do a 3 channel amp dude.
 
have you tried the 100w EVH with the three proper channels ?

you can get them for about £850 or less used these days.

Other than that it's slim pickings in the UK withiut shelling out megabucks for mesa, bogner, diezel...

hughes and kettner ?
 
I haven't tried the 100-watter no, and yeah it's on my list of potentials. So far I have:

Diezel D-Moll
EVH 5150III 100-watt
Fryette Sig X (if I can find one!)
Kemper Powerhead
Fractal Axe FX II

I'm wondering whether the Blackstars are worth trying too. What I grew to dislike about the JVMJS is the fuzzy characteristics when palm muting. I don't get that at all with my EVH 50watt.
 
Get a MAKO MAK4 and have 4 channels of awesomeness. Not much hype on here for these but they are really great preamps. They are also built like tanks. Probably find one for under 1K leaving you $ for a power amp. I ran mine through the power section of my Uberschall and it was killer to say the least.
 
5150 III 100w has 3 individual channels and can cop the XTC tones and won't break the bank.
 
For that Fact your in UK and Mesa vs Deizel pricing I would get the Dmoll or Einstein
