I predict another homerun by Green Day (new album....)

Man, their Warning CD is one of the most punchy, real, 3-D sounding, sonically separated CDs I've ever heard. Thats how modern recordings should sound, period.

Their new stuff just sounds too "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" for me now.

They actually can be called a classic rock band now right? I mean, they're old

They never bothered me and i like some stuff. It's just that whenever i hear him sing i want to give him a bottle of NyQuil and tell him to sleep it off.

Maybe "coolest" but nowhere near the best.

I do think he has a very good voice for the style of music. Funny enough, Warning is one of my least favorite Green Day albums. I hear a lot less distortion saturation on that album compared to the others. That really bothered me. It's almost the cleanest one of all.

Interesting, I though the SAME thing for years when Warning came out. I liked it, but it was so different from anything else that it was a bit of a shock. it was VERY clean, and even "folk - like" definitely the transitional album between the past and the newer stuff.

Now a days that I'm getting into more classic rock and blues stuff and getting away from metal, I can definetly see the gems in that album......

I love this song

I like Green day. at least they keep it real. I remember telling some bitch at school that Greenday was better and going to be bigger than pearl jam. She told me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Yeah, I hold a grudge ;)

:D

I was never a big Pearl Jam fan. they had some GREAT songs....and Eddie V. voice was unique at that time.......but Green day was my fav. for A LOOOOOOONG time.....still is in my top 5

21th Century Breakdown.....this one sounds even better than American Idiot....more "mature" and with more musical influences.

check out this song.... BRILLIANTLY written (IMO)

btw, Billie Joe has the SWEETES Marshall rock tone....DAMN!

Great stuff, actually.

Even though i am a big fan of OLD green day

the new song on here doesn't sound too

but nevertheless, I do find myself liking the good ol' stuff a lot more.

I remember reading an interview with Billie Joe about the Warning album. He talked about his choices for amps and guitars and the tones on that album.

It was a while back, so I don't remember everything. But, I do think that on that album is where he first really began using LP Juniors and P90's.

I have always though GD was one of the worst bands ever. I guess they have made a ton more money than alot of good bands.

He doesn't bother me that much, he just sounds like he always has a cold. But i never thought of him as anything special vocally, he just fits what they do.

I'd like to see Green Day put one one more, 4 to the floor, fuck you punk record, before they are done.

check this new tune...it's a B-side from the new album (not in the official release...), but was written during the recording of the new album 21th century breakdown.

sounds very "old school Green Day"

Excellent live band..

they are not even one of my favorites but I saw a show a few years back and was totally impressed by there sound, ability, and Billy Joe is probably one of the best frontmen I have ever seen...excellent stage rap and ability to connect with the audience

I still listen to the tone on Dookie and get goosebumps.

Strat copy with a JB + modded Plexi =
Apparently, his Fernades Strat had a Bill Lawrence humbucker in the bridge. Then it was destroyed after the famous Woodstock "mud throwing" performance and a JB was then installed.
So...it was the BL pickup heard on the Dookie album.

This song is kind of a letdown after the insanely catchy, brilliant pop writing on American Idiot.

I can't remember anything after having listened to it - just seemed like a bunch of ideas thrown together haphazardly to create the rock opera thing they're going for these days rather than concise, solid songwriting that they had on AI.

Hope the next singles are better.

I actually like this song
It seems more of a 90s punk feel to it, rather than American Idiot. Which I have to say was a major let down. No offense
