Great show!
The band was super tight, the singer has such an amazing voice.
I'm a fan a Saga and have their In Transit cd and let me tell you,
They played most of the songs from that cd.
They played new ones too and sounded amazing.

Ian Crichton (guitar) played a ebmm Silhouette along with a Esp guitar.
He had two amps on stage, a Roland jazz chorus and a Diezel Herbert head.
He sounded really good.

On the cool side, On my way to the parking lot after the show, I saw the band
Having a smoke behind the theater so I stopped and chatted with Ian.
He's very generous and appreciative of the praise I threw his way.
I asked how he liked the Herbert, he said he loved it.
I asked him what he used on the live in trsnsit cd, he said he used a Mesa combo
With a graphic equalizer, He could say exactly what model but I gather it was most likely a Mark 2.
I asked about the Ebmm and he said he has certain playability prroblem with it mainly
Where the knobs are located ( to close and he hits them once in a while)
All in all, one of best concert I've attended in a while.

Dream Theater next week :)

Cool! I loved their stuff when I was in college in the mid 80's. Ian's playing is always tight and very fast, not too much gain either.

Love saga. The first album is a classic. Ian has always had a unique style. Glad to hear they are still out there doing it.

Ghost is playing Montreal tonight, If I didn't work today I'd be all over that show!

Great band but somewhat underestimated throughout their career. Good musicians with a great sense of melody in their songwriting.

Yup! Their one of the band that integrated keyboards and guitar together really well.

Wind him up . . .

Salut Phillipe, I also still dig them a lot.

Saw them for the first time on german TV...Rockpalast.....I was devastated!
Next day I went to the store to buy all the LP's.

He started that song exactly like that!

One of my favorite bands, own nearly every album and DVD they have released; yes, albums as in vinyl, and also CDs. First, it was the twin guitar attack of bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc that got me. Deep Purple with Ritchie and Jon was one thing, but Saga completely won me over with where they took it. Saga's "Silhouette" DVD is a favorite; Moog synths!!! Great band!

Wore the shit out of the Heads Or Tales record back when.

And anybody who's heard the unabridged version of Catwalk from said record can attest that Ian can throw down.

Wow this post took me back a few years.

I moved down to LA from Seattle with my band at the time (2005) and recorded a record at Sound City and Jim (Saga bass player) was the engineer and I had never heard of the band at the time but liked the massive amount of Gold records on the wall.

Anyways, Jim was one of the coolest and most humble guys I have ever met in the industry and will always associate Saga with his professionalism and kindness.
