Congrats on the re-dedication. I've been doing a bit of that on my own lately...my chops are nearly where they were in the late 80's and my phrasing I feel is better than ever...and that's without lessons. Best of luck...I hope you get everything out of this that you are looking for

Congrats on the motivation and the lessons!!!

I have been throwing the same idea around for a while now. Just haven't had the time or the funds lately to pursue it.

scarified is still such a great pinnacle in shred history!

the 80s GIT/shrapnel era cranked out a lot of utter nonsense but paul and bruce were the shining lights of that robot generation.

and jason becker punched face too :)

Thats pretty damn cool James and Ive been thinking alot about this lately myself. Ive been working alot of hours and after that, Im spending all the time that I can with my son. The only playing that I get to do revolves around my band and tunes that I have to learn for it and lately, that means the only time I physically pick up my guitar are maybe half an hour to learn new tunes, practice maybe once a month and the 2-3 gigs that we do in a month.

I just dont play at all anymore outside of that and I really want to dedicate more of my time to improving and learning new things , be it with a teacher or on my own, either way would be fine with me.. I just need better time management; instead of spending an hour or so in front of the tube after dinner, I should pick up the guitar and play...

I always loved Bruces playing, dare I say it, maybe even more than Pauls. He always reminded me of a more melodic , bluesier version of Paul. I loved all the stuff that he did with The Scream( still listen to it to this day) and IMO, Racer X really took off when he was in the band...

Have a Blast and tell Bruce to come on over here!!!

Yeah I'm pretty excited, my buddy Dan who's playing with me on the amp shootout started practicing again too. Our styles are very different he's more like Nuno and I'm like Billy Gibbons on acid. Heaven and hell!

Im very envious.

Bruce Boulliet friggin owns!!! Who can touch that Gilbert/Boulliet combo from the 80s. No one!

Love that string skip turned sliding tap that Bruce does. Totally underrated player who slays.....

Stuff of legend.

Had my lesson today, it was so inspiring. I was actually played better the moment I got there, it's like my hands responded to being around him, it was weird. He showed me some stuff and I'm sitting here practicing. He liked my playing too so it made me feel good. Got another lesson Friday and he's playing with me at the amp shootout Saturday. Really nice guy.

Bruce is a great player, I love his stuff in The Scream too.

I'd love to get lessons off a monster player like that

Been practicing all week, my hands are moving better. To start with I've been working on the stuff I grew up with; Yngwie, VH, Neal Schon, Di Meola. Bruce really inspired me to play. I took yesterday off, my left hand was achy but today I warmed up for a few minutes and the all of a sudden she was moving. Very excited! Taking another lesson on Friday and then Bruce is coming up to the studio on Saturday to play with us at the shootout.

I need to get back into something like this. I never really did learn how to practice correctly and this would burn up some time that I am currently using to be self destructive instead of constructive.

That amp shootout is going to kill! I couldn't imagine sitting in a room with a monster player like that watching him tear up the place. I guess I will just have to settle with hitting the local dive bar and witness some band massacre cover songs.
