I think I'm gonna buy this off eBay (Marshall cab...)

If you're anything like me, you won't hit the BIN because you're afraid that you'll still want the Mojave cab! Even though I haven't had a real matching rig in a looong time, I'm a sucker for matching amps/cabs.

Or you could pick up that Marshall AND an avatar - straight up shoot out!
:D

I say go for it Chris, those Marshall cabs sound incredible.

Nothing against Avatar though.

If you do have a chance, check out the voodoo cabs. I don't know what trace does to them, but those sound incredible. In fact, i'm moving my whole backline over to Voodoo stuff. They're pricey and rare to find used, but well worth it IMO

Hey Chris, should have my sig x this week. Let me know if you want to check it out. If it's all that it's cracked up to be I may put my XTC or Koch up for grabs. I just got a port city oversize 2x12 cab a couple of months ago. I put a well worn v30 and an eminence GB in it. You should check it out. Sounds way better than my marshall 2x12. My advice on the cab is get the beater! I have a clip on myspace recorded live with the xtc and port city. It's crappy quality digital camera live at Helen Fitzgerald's. I played a huge clunker in the beginning of the song but it gives you a good idea of the tone coming off the stage.

Do it already

So am I driving you nuts? Will you feel relieved when I actually do it? Will someone beat me to it? Ahhhhhhhh, the suspense feels good to me.

Bastard :D
I love old Marshall cabs, especially if they are beat up and have Greenies
You know, worst case, someone here will buy that for the same price you paid I'm sure, if you decide it's not for you.

James jones told me to tell ya hello he is our bass player and says he knows you.

get the Mojave...coolest looking 4x12 out there imo...damn fine sounding. Of course when I get the Sig x, I know I'll have to have a matching cab 'cause I'm anal like that so I might me letting my Splawn go...but damn that cab sure is nice as well.

Well son of a bitch... The BIN price was $500, so instead of using that, I thought I'd try saving a few bucks by just bidding my max of $500. The BIN disappeared and my auto bid went up to the reserve of $375. Cool! The auction ends in a few hours and some jackass outbid me. lol... It's at $510 now and I don't think I'll bid again. Crap. I really wanted that cab, dangit! Tried to save a buck and it didn't work out.

So now what? Back to square one... Do I blow the extra cash on the Mojave? Probably not... Do I get a new Avatar? Maybe, but I dunno... I know it's a good "budget" cab, but I don't really want a budget cab. I'm probably dumb for thinking that.

Sell one of your VHT cabs and finance a Mojave with it.....

Another vote for buy it here...

I have those same speakers in an old Carvin cab from the 80's. It is my favorite, hands down (except it isn't wired for "stereo" use).

Yeah, I could definitely do that. I do have one up for sale locally, but no bites or anything. To be honest, I have two 4x12" shipping boxes, so I could easily ship one. Maybe I'll do that. Throw a D412 up online and tell the buyer to pay shipping. Gets it up near the price of a new one, but I'm pretty sure they're not in stock many places, right?
Well would you be remotely interested in trading for my Splawn...2 GB's & 2GH30's ? Black w/ white piping and black grill cloth. Darn near mint minus a small ding in the corner. Smaller than your smallest fingernail.

That happened to me when I sold my Gibson Gothic Explorer. I had the BIN price set at like $800-900 or so and it ended up getting bid up to like $1100.

Keep a lookout for a Splawn cab! They are built really well, and not many people on eBay know about them

I saw a unloaded one on eBay recently for like $300 BIN, maybe you might get lucky like I did

Yeah, I'd be interested in that, but shipping would kill us both. I was hoping to off the shipping costs to a buyer, ya know? That way I'm not out anything. I wish you were close enough to meet.

By the way, I'm going nuts here. I just bid a max of $550 on that beater Marshall I could've bought for $500 a few hours ago. lol... We'll see how it plays out. My wife is telling me to get the Mojave. She knows me all too well.
Yeah, how much do you figure shipping would be?

I should have my Sigx in next week and I've gotta have the D-Cab.

Hey my band is booking regional...any original rock clubs in that area...we're working on the The Bluebird right now.

Hey if she says get the Mojave...go for it. Still to this day my fav cab and it just looks classy.

whoops here's mine!

Those are pretty nice cabs, i got one and i think i actually prefer its sound to my Mesa cab.

The Avatar Vintage are miles better than the regular Avatar cabs IMO.

The Vintage Modern has the premium Greenbacks. I'd say that's worth the extra few bucks. That cab on eBay for $570 plus shipping would have been at least $650 to your door, right? And considering the condition of that used cab, I think the Vintage Modern deal is a no-brainer.

The VM cabs usually go for around $900. They'll have good resale value down the road.

The Mojove cabs have G12H-30s, don't they? Different sound than the G12C greenbacks, for sure. I'd choose between the Mojave and the VM if it was me. One downside with the Mojave stuff is that the resale isn't quite as good. Even the PM heads have been soft on sales lately on eBay.

I think the VM cab is your best bet at that price - no brainer if you ask me. Hell, the cab you were bidding on runs over $1K online new...

You could also pick up the VM cab, and a regular (used) Marshall cab and swap speakers - I'm sure the cab construction is the same between the two.
