I want some new speakers for my 412

Like you mentioned 2 of the 3 WGS models I've tried flatten out to early on the volume dial, but the ET90's I had held up well.

As for other non WGS speakers Celstion G12H-100's are awesome for high gain tones that fall from modern hard rock to metal tones, and blend well with EVM12L's also.

I know the BV300 is a PITA with a 2/4 ohm load so it makes speaker options difficult. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do long term and committing to 4 EV speakers without knowing what you're getting into seems risky to me. Mesa Diesel and a Thiele or two Thieles might give you a good idea of what you may be after with an easy way out if it isn't for you.

Not to hijak your thread but a local guy is selling a fender metal head halfstack and I would love to try that out. I guess fender put a guitar pre amp section and mated it to one of their bass amp power sections. It’s like 400 or 500 watts at 4 ohms….

I'd suggest a quad of classic lead 80s. The newest versions are UK-made, but the MIC versions are killer too.
Also there are the UK-made Mesa 90w black shadow versions that are very close to the same thing.

Those cabs are front loaded with K100s too, they sound pretty killer even if they look goofy with the chrome accents.

CL80s are pretty nice, have more midrange content than a K100 but are a little smoother, don't have the same "bite" so to say at the top end...they do sound pretty great mixed with T75s too (or K100s). I have one of my cabs x pattern with CL80 and K100 right now.

A speaker I do like but is not that efficient is the Weber Black Shuck, it sounds killer but it does get overpowered by basically every other speaker so if you pair it with something it'd just add lows or "depth" if you want to say but you wouldn't notice it much. I have a Silver Wolf too which is a lot louder but is a cool combination, I should get another Black Shuck at some point so I can run it by itself. I have the Dire Wolf too, it's not my favourite but it's okay. (it is louder than the Black Shuck) There's a stoner doom video on youtube which gives a pretty accurate representation of them. (the seacow cabs one makes them sound more samey)

Tell me more about the Black Shuck. I've been interested in it, but there's a lack of demos and reviews. Weber's description makes it seem like it's more for down tuning. I did see an old post from CJ saying something like it was more Black Sabbath than AC/DC, but I really don't know what he meant by that.

The Texas Heats are new and quite excellent I must say. Each are 150w and I'm running them at 8 ohms in a detuned 412 which sounds phenomenal.

I used to have that same Crate 412 until it got destroyed in a flood. Really solid cab and still flies under the radar because of the Crate name; assuming it still has the V30's in it.

It's the best crate cab out there. Essentially built as a 1960A clone, MDF back included. Has a better rear jack plate tho and a metal front grille. It had V30s as OEM but I got this cab empty and for free.

The cab sounds huge and very tight. It fills the room and throws sound accurately and with great clarity when standing at a distance. It's been my primary cab since getting it in early March.

I sent you some clips and a picture of how it was recorded.

The 2nd clip is hard to say but the first one I would say with mic differences gives a decent comparison though it sounds like they did a pretty big high pass on that recording. Probably the closest speaker I've used to it would be the Celestion Redback but I didn't really like that as much so I sold mine.

Yeah hard to explain but it "reigned in" the cabs projection making it more focused and smoothed out the internal sound reflection as it escaped out the holes. Mainly influenced the upper mids and treble.
