I want to see some guts of a Mark Cameron modded Marshall.

For every gooped high gain amp I can find you 10 that aren't gooped and don't suffer from problems. The goop is not a solution for anything in the amplifier, it hides components. Pretending that it does something else isn't doing anyone any good.

 Whatever..

Why is this even an arguement? The guy evidently has a problem with the "goop". BIG DEAL. If you dont want your amp with goop in it, dont buy one. It's NOT however gonna change the value of the amp depending on WHO modded it. Marks amp will definetely NOT lose value, plain and simple. And while their are planty of "other" modders out there, NONE of them sound like Marks amps do, hence the price tag on them. Sure they sound great, but in different ways.

deal with it, it's not that big of a deal, if you dont like it, dont buy it. Why argue with someone who doesnt care about "goop" and cares about TONE.

I agree 100%.

But buyers should be made aware that they are buying a gooped amp.

Just as a point of reference, the OP has been slamming Cameron amps on their own forum, so he obviously doesn't have much respect for Mark or his work. Yet here he is asking for gut shots. Gee, I wonder what he wants those for....?

Not too hard to figure out why Mark needs to protect his mods.

Im going to say it again because It needs repeating. Trace does not and has not gooped amps in a long time. If you buy an amp right now, it wont have it. If you buy an amp which was previously modded with goop, send it back and they will remove and rebuild the amp for free. What else can you possibly want?!

Trace and the rest (Cameron, etc) deserve a lot more respect than is being given here by these internet armchair amp designers.

Today. No disrespect to Cameron because I personally think the guy is a genius, but to think his amps will always be sought after and more valuable than a stock amp is an assumption at best. Lee Jackson's mods were sought after at one point. Now people can't get that shit out of their old plexis and metalface amps fast enough. There will come a day when unmodded JMPs and 800s will be a hotter commodity. Just like the plexis and metalfaces before them. When that happens, if you're looking to move one, you'll do better the cleaner and more original it is. That's just my prediction based on what has historically happened.

But yeah, I agree, if you don't like it don't buy it. That's pretty much what the OP said here and everybody jumped his shit. Not that I agree with his posts or this thread at all, but you got the argument backwards.

lol...I had to edit my post because I fucking spelled genius wrong...

I do not care if that Cameron that DanHops has was gooped by John Holmes and Long Dong Silver.......I want it

Yeah I get the feeling some people buy amps to flip or invest in. While others actually play them and enjoy the tones. :scared:

I won't slam anyone for gooping their amps or mods so long as they offer full disclosure to the buyer up front.

As far as repsect goes, respect is earned, not bestowed. There are people who allege that they sent their amps to Cameron and waited literally years before getting them back, and people who sent money to Cameron for amps and waited months or years and still didn't receive an amp. On top of that, they say that their calls and emails went mostly unanswered. That is completely unacceptable and not worthy of respect. Being a "mad genius" has never been an excuse for poor customer service.

I truly hope that Cameron gets the business end of their business running properly because I really hope to own one of those CCV-100 amps. From the clips I've seen/heard it appears to have it's own thing going and sounds great. Let's hope it goes from its current vaporware status to reality soon.

I could be wrong, but I think he covers the "magic" stuff up with epoxy or some other goopy subststance to avoid reverse engineering of his mods. I think Dave Bray does the same thing.

Yeah, Mark does that for sure and I believe alot of other folks do it too?

I remember Trace Davis at Voodoo Amps caught crap for doing that as well. I don't think he does it anymore and has patented designs in his production amps, but the mods are definitely covered up.
Trace doesnt cover up his mods any more, I've had a modded recto 4 years or so and mine doesnt have it on it, he did cover up his witch doctor and hex circuits at one time but doesn't now.

Bottom line is Voodoo amps takes care of their customers so why worry. He hasn't put that stuff in amps for a long time now.

How easy is that goop to remove if something gets screwed up underneath it that requires repair? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Steve

I asked Mark to put "extra goop" on mine because I like the way it looks! :D

I do not know what they use goop wise but when I was in the navy I trained for micro mini repair and we would use dental tools and high speed dremal type tools with excavation bits to do that work.

You can do it but it is very hard and you have to have good tools. If your nickname is shakes dont even try.

If anything gets screwed up whilst you're removing the goop, and you dont know the circuit underneath.. then you're in trouble...

But due to the fact that Mark knows his own circuits like the back of his hand.. he could probably just get the goop off fast and replace/rewire anything that got damaged!

Is it hard or soft this goop stuff? If it was soft I would have no idea how to remove it not that I would want to anyways.

Yes I am sure Mark would fix things up right
