I don't view tariffs in a bad light. You want to sell your copper here, pay up or find another market. Good luck. That's kind of my take on it since I don't believe in free trade. That's a political tool to exploit the working class.
Long term, tariffs can certainly be a good thing. We have a long history of farming out expendable shit to get cheaper prices. That dominoes into less industry inside the US and ultimately cheap immigrant labor as well.
Making drastic changes to both tariffs and the labor force at the same time is for sure a political pony show, and lacks a bit of foresight imo, as there will be an unknown amount of time between when we burn our bridges and when we can build our own bridges so to speak
