I wonder if a 50% tariff on copper will make things more expensive?

Don’t think copper is going up in New Zealand.

Have any of the tariffs resulted in the catastrophic consequences you dumbasses predicted they would ? If the first 41 times you cried wolf produced nothing of consequence what makes you think anyone gives a shit on your 42nd try ?

Back to the topic:

Ah well, it's not like any of us here on this forum have hobbies that will be impacted by the price of copper wire....

As someone who stares at plumbing and electric quotes every day, I can say the price of copper is absolutely out of control lately. I received and email a couple months ago from one of our plumbing suppliers telling us we have about a week to order stuff before the price skyrockets.
They were right

As a guy who sells a lot of scrap I concur with your assessment.

Too bad Japan hasn't made a tariff deal. I just had to buy Made in Japan gear before the 25% tariff starts on August 1. Luckily MF had it in stock in their warehouse in the factory sealed box...now hopefully FedEx won't destroy it.

I have a bunch of copper wire left over from my building. Wonder if now is the time to cash it in or just hang onto it cause it'll cost me more to go get some later. Don't really need much of it unless I move and build again. I always sit around wondering whether somewhat low cost items are worth paying to move if I were to pick up and head outta state.

if you know what you paid for it, I'd watch how the prices move before selling. good chance the prices may go back to normal after the drama subsides...

remember toilet paper during covid? I still have a stockpile because I'd buy when it was in stock, even with the 2 per customer limit...now I'd rather have a stockpile than run out...same for ammo. :D

I can't recall what I paid for it. It was all pre-covid stuff so maybe I can get my money back out now, lol. I'm tempted to send the old lady to the recycler with it today. I been clearing out junk I don't need in even I decide to move. Slowly knocking it down. Guitar/music stuff, furnishings, jewelry, clothes. I told the old lady I refuse to haul her junk collection across the country again.

As for asswipe I still have 100 rolls of tp out in the shed, lol. I just bought one of those bulk industrial boxes of it when it was cheap.

I just have one pickup left and a few odds and ends left to sell. She has a couple acoustics that should probably get moved. I honestly don't have much to move now since I can throw my couch, bed, and at least one of the dressers into the trash can before I go. Literal throw away items. When you move a lot, every time that day comes around you wish you just had a back pack of stuff, a guitar, and an amp.

I have a few more guitars to sell, maybe an amp or two, and a keyboard or two.

It's definitely going up unless Trump goes TACO as usual...

Think about it. A tariff is an import tax. The US importers pay the tax. Over half of copper use in the US is imported. If half the copper goes up by 50%, what's the impact on price?

if the price goes up so will the taxes, and if they sell it to MA probably have to pay the MA taxes. I miss tax free internet shopping.
I think most of our stuff comes through the port of Albany and then dispersed through the region. MA is annoying with water restriction so most shower/toilet/sink stuff I order out of state and go pick it up.

I don't view tariffs in a bad light. You want to sell your copper here, pay up or find another market. Good luck. That's kind of my take on it since I don't believe in free trade. That's a political tool to exploit the working class.
