I wonder if a 50% tariff on copper will make things more expensive?

I don't view tariffs in a bad light. You want to sell your copper here, pay up or find another market. Good luck. That's kind of my take on it since I don't believe in free trade. That's a political tool to exploit the working class.
I have mixed feelings. It will upend the globalist system -- which I support, but free trade is just another part of being free, which I also support. At the end of the day though it was never really free trade, and this will hurt the transnational corporations more than the average consumer (I hope).

I see it as enabling rich investors to screw over workers by choosing the nation where wages will be minimal and profit maximized. A free country is one that protects the interests and rights of it's own citizens above that of those outside it's borders.
You're looking at it from the perspective of the worker, but employers, business owners and investors are also American and in this case their natural right to contract with foreigners is restricted. Again I don't like that, but I'm so done with the globalist corporatocracy I don't really care.

Ideally the government should not be telling it's citizens who they can hire or buy shit from, or seek to impose punitive taxes in order to effect a desired social end. That's really what socialism is all about. But as I've said many times we don't live in a truly capitalist (or free) country anyways.

I hope your country crashes in a stinking heap and it comes back to bite you. The US is our enemy now.

Don't worry, the US (enemy of the world) is currently self destructing. Terminal decline under the dumbest world leader in history. America's enemies can simply sit back, sip a margarita, and watch it fall.

Anyone that attacks their friends that have helped them for decades like they are enemies are a pile of shit imo. We should ban them from absolutely everything we can and form a different trading bloc and leave them to wallow in their own little insular and degenerate world.

Your copperflex underwear might get more expensive, but these stock market, egg, ww3, 200 a barrel oil, maple syrup, kangaroo meat predictions don't seem to be panning out so give it some time. Maybe it'll play out like the rest of the hyperbole.
Might lock the crawlspace if there's any copper plumbing near cracktown.

Friends that have been taking advantage of us in trade for decades? That free ride is over, Bruce.

Honestly I think crashing might be our best option right now. Attitudes are too far gone to change without a taste of rock bottom.
