I have an original 565EG, 770DXLB and 770DXVM. I think the Wizard III necks and Edge Zero trem are great updates and that the new ones rival the old fairly well.

I'm getting old and like a little bit thicker neck? I like the feel and stability of the Edge Zero? I... Yeah, I got nothin'. Those old RGs with Original Wizard are the shizz. I played my 770DXLB the other day... Like butter. I don't know how it happened... Every Rg5/700 series I have has a finished neck, but somehow my '91 770DXLB has a sanded neck. AFAIK, I am the original owner of the guitar (Bought it new in '91). Don't know if it was a factory option or if someone custom ordered it and never picked it up, but that guitar is magical. And, with age, the pickups (Still stock) keep sounding better and better, like old PAFs or something. MOJO for days...

When I stumbled upon a '92 770DXVM on the 'bay a few years ago I had to have it. When I got the thing, the plastic coverings were still on everything but the pickups. Was definitely a closet piece. Don't know that a guitar like that will ever be "stage suitable" again (Violet Metallic?) but there's just some things from your childhood that you always wanted, and when you finally get it, especially like it was brand new, it's gratifying.

i used to have 2 killer rg550s!!! miss them, they were in amazing condition, gonna check if i still have pics of them.

I was just kidding, but seriously, there are only a couple recent Ibanez i find as good as the old ones. The RG1527M Galaxy White, that 7 has major mojo, it`s a super nice looking axe and the maple neck feels awesome. Also the re-issue 550 is just a dream to play.

I had a Jem777DVY that i sold a while back  That one was just killer, super thin neck, the thinnest of the Jems actually. Should of never sold that one. I bought that thing brand new in 89, it was mt first new good guitar....This was the childhood dream guitar for me. I can`t believe i sold it, damn it. Wish i could get it back.

I also had the blue sparkle Jem. While being a very attractive guitar, i couldn`t bond with the feel, at all. Sold it within a couple weeks.

The ones i have right now are here to stay, ain`t sellin` nothin`.

The new RG3XX have the Super Wizard III neck, which is thicker than the original Wizard. I have a RG550, and the neck on the RG3XX is a touch thicker and feels much better to me. I've been contemplating picking one up myself...

I played one of these in blue at GC yesterday. The strings were dead (not the Ibby's fault) and the all of the fret ends were really sharp. I was shocked at how bad the frets were finished (or not).

My guess is that the neck contracted a lot due to the winter weather up here. Either way, the frets needed some serious work. I really wanted to like that thing too. It has my favorite pickup configuration.
