Chunky as a MF 😍 crazy how low you recorded it but it might of actually helped in the mix. 😛 This one’s a bit louder in the LUFS like .7/.8 but more importantly I feel like the individual notes/chords are balancing out really nicely with your chugs & open low strings! Mic isn’t being overpowered by the low end. Very nice 🤙🏽 Did you treat the guitars at all or is this raw? You’re triggering my GAS for a 2203 🤣

Thank you. It's even a bit louder. In the 5 LUFS range. :) Recently i learned that YouTube limits/compresses it to -14LUFS anyway. I changed the Mic Position to Dead Center. When the Amp is cranked the sound obviously gets fatter. But it can be too much, that's right. When the Master is on 2.2 i don't have to raise the mic gain fader at all. :D The Guitars and Bass are completely raw in the Mix. The Drum-Kit is mixed totally basic in Superior Drums. One Mic per shell, 2 Overheads, 2 Room Mics, 1084 Style equalizer, Reverb on the Snare. On the Master Bus i have a Tape Presence Plugin and a Limiter.
I try to keep it as simple and mean as possible. I'd say go for it and get a 2203 :D My in the Room Winner today was the ST9Pro+ by the way. Maybe i record it again tomorrow at the same volume like the last Ibanez Clip.

They both sound like Fido's Ass. I had no idea my Tube Screamers could sound like that :)

Sorry in advance to anyone that likes that sound. Tone is subjective and all that stuff 💥
Believe me im not a fan of any TS.
Even as a pure blues guy, it never gave me a sexual thrill

I love my Tube Screamers. I've got a good collection and I use them all the time at gigs.

I think you might need the Platinum Pocket Pussy Melter

A made 1 with the ST9 too. I still can't decide. 🤷‍♀️

Dopeeee thanks for giving me the run down! I’m always curious about all the elements. Nerdy MF “🤓😂 Speaking of nerds after you post your video enable “stats for nerds” in your YouTube settings & see if it’s giving you an accurate LUF reading from your original mix. I just found out that existed when I was listening to your mixes back to back. 🤯 Felt like one was slightly louder. Googled some shit, & apparently they thought of that for us 😃 🤙🏽 Confirmed I wasn’t completely crazy haha, but it might also show you what the compression algorithm is doing to your material. 🙂 We were joking in another thread about the sound changing day to day with the same rig 😂 not just placebo.. environment can definitely make audio do some bipolar shit lol.

Oh man.. 😍 Ok here’s my take.. the Ibanez is definitely brighter which I love on the open chords just lets that “grind” through, it also lets through more pick attack… Kind of gives you that Mesa-ish scratchy sound. That’s a subjective thing- some love it others hate it. I’m right in the middle lol I think it has its place. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The Maxon is voiced different, & doesn’t really shine on the open chords but we’re it does shine is starting at the 32 second mark when you start hitting the individual notes/tremolos. It’s letting the attack of those notes through more, & giving that riff a “bounce” especially with the kick. Also feel like the Maxon gets out of the way of the kick attack a lil more too. Can’t decide either. Maybe do as @errrrrl said & mix em both lol 🙃

Super interesting to see the split opinions. The Maxon ST9 Pro+ having that internal 18V switch seems like a huge advantage on paper for keeping the dynamics intact and preventing the pedal from turning the amp's front end into mush.

On the flip side, the TS808-HW has that mojo and build quality.

Yes, i agree. You can run the Ibanez with an 18 Volt power supply too though. I think i prefer running it at 9 Volt.

Youre welcome. Glad to talk about it in more detail. I just learned that recently too. And now i also understood it :D I thought it was the reductuon relative to the -14 db target, but it's the absolute content volume. -6.3 db in this case:

Seems to be db and not LUFS. At least that's what it says. "We were joking in another thread about the sound changing day to day with the same rig 😂 not just placebo.. environment can definitely make audio do some bipolar shit lol." Yeah, absolutely. :D

Thanks. Yes, i agree. Overall i think i prefer the Ibanez now. But since i had both i ended up liking either one or the other at the end of the shoot-outs. I'm kinda the guy that HAS to decide. Don't know why i can't just keep and like both. There has to be a winner somehow. I'm constantly switching back and forth between the 2. It's a bit stupid, i know. It's also sort of a feel thing. And a bit of Mojo. The Ibanez has it. It seems to be the perfect Tubescreamer. You need to crank the amp a little more though. The Maxon is more compressed and a bit easier to play and has almost a bit too much omph. And when i finally get rid of one, we're probably talking about that again:"We were joking in another thread about the sound changing day to day with the same rig 😂 not just placebo.. environment can definitely make audio do some bipolar shit lol. " cause i know there's days when it will sound like shit no matter what :D

Today i started playing the Marshall with everything on 10, then i went back to my standard settings, which sounded dark and muffled( psycho-acoustic), then i reduced the Presence to 8, played a bit with the gain and tone knob of the 808 but ended up with my usual setting on the TS and recorded this:
