Not sure on the price these days, but I dig my Engl E530 preamp + E850/100 power amp rack. It will be the last and only tube amp I keep, the cleans are pristine and there's more high gain on tap than I'll ever need. worth a look IMO.

TwinJet'll get you what you want - and you can scoop the living bejesus out of it (bearing in mind that'll also effect your cut in live situations, but whatever). TwinJet gets my vote.

whats a twinjet an uberschall or something?
Yep. It's a version of the Uberschall. 2nd channel is fkn nuclear. Tight. Completely and ridiculously oversaturated if you want it. And probably one of the loudest amps on the market that still holds it together when paired with the right cab.

And check out Reza's demo of it here: http://www.bogneramplification.com/medi ... sic-videos

It'll get MOAR METAL beleive me, if ya want it to.

I seem to remember that the Uberschall runs six 12AX7s; four for input and gain stages, one for the loop and one for phase inverter. Bogner used to have the tube layouts on the site, but maybe not anymore?

Nothing touches the power section of a Herbert opened up. The Twin Jet is fantastic as well. You may want to consider a Randall Thrasher, Satan or 667 as those amps are capable of doing what you say you need. Of course you can always go on the cheap and get a Bugera and a metal zone pedal. ;)

Deliverance120...sounds like a ballsier, thicker orange channel in the Ultra Lead...i also happen to have one for sale :p

I play death metal 90% of the time. Very satisfied with the Rhodes/KSR Orthos I have. Its pretty tight without a boost and cuts nicely.

Mesa Mark III with a mess boogie 5 band EQ in the loop. Will give you tons of tight bottom end.

One of the meanest amps I ever heard was the Rivera K-Tre, probably a fairly cheap buy on the used market by now. As an added bonus it also has a top-shelf clean channel.

That's a really good out of the ordinary suggestion. Really good super high gain sounds, with a good clean channel too.

Check Peters Amp. One if his channels choices would probably fit the bill nicely.

Framus Cobra clean boosted with an OD through a Cobra cab will hang with anything for the brootz. Fucking BEAST of an amp and you won't spend an arm and a leg. One just sold in the classifieds for $850 I think?

I have a kaos Hatred preamp, it is killer does a great metal tone and some real cool mi dgain tones

This

And my previous suggestion, the Ampeg VL. Could also go with the ENGL preamp into the power section of your Fryette.

Marshall Valvestate 8100
Engl Savage 120
Engl SE
Engl Fireball 60
Bogner Twin Jet

IMHO Herbert is too thin sounding. If you go for a Herbert, go for a mark II knowing you're then pushing the boundaries of your price range.
