For black metal, probably something loud and solidstate .

I had a Ampeg VH-140C for a while. It was a one trick pony for sure, but that trick was pure Death metal. It was a evil sounding amp, and as long as it was hooked up stereo it was loud enough for most bands at 140 watts stereo, 70 a side. It also had a decent clean, although a bit cold or sterile sounding.
